About Mrs. Starfish

Bee Love

July 9th, 2010 @ 12:54 pm by Mrs. Starfish

Over the past few weeks we’ve received quite a few gifts, due to our recent showers. Pretty much every day I went home, there seemed to be some fun package on our doorstep. I’ve been really overwhelmed at the generosity of our friends and family members!

Then, as I was opening the mail one day, another special package arrived. I don’t think I could have been more excited for a piece of paper. It was the form to reserve our college campus for photos. Just a few weeks ago I had no idea I needed this, and if it wasn’t for the thoughtfulness of a Newport photographer, I never would have known I needed it, and quite possibly could have been kicked off the grounds of the campus on our wedding day during our planned photo session.

I had written a post, awhile back about our college campus. I had said I wanted to do our photos on the campus. A Newport photographer, who we are not a client of, left a comment to let me know of the necessary paperwork needed to rent Ochre Court—which I had no idea we needed! I’m so appreciative she told us, and again I’m in awe of her generosity. She helped the bride of a competitor with nothing to gain. She is also a bride to be, planning her own wedding.

One of my favorite things about Weddingbee is the awesome community. If I hadn’t written that post, and she hadn’t left that comment, who knows if we would have been able to take photos on campus that day. Knowing the security there, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have been allowed to.

Has your planning been better due to a comment or post on Weddingbee?

Thats awesome! Glad you will be able to do it since that is such an important part of your relationship, history, and wedding day! I know that everytime I post something or need something a bee will always email or send me a message that is very helpful. For example - I am currently in search of table runners for my wedding in August and I have had about 5 bees email me or PM me letting me know that they will custom make them for me or telling me a shop that they have. It is extremely generous and thoughtful! I love the hive!

Not my planning exactly, but Mr. Socks’ brown pans have now been replaced with nice new ones that a reader suggested! Ohhh I’m sooo happy about that!

I garnered so many ideas and so much advice from Weddingbee posts and boards…even for non-wedding related things!! That’s why I’m still here over a year later!

the hive has helped me with a lot of things picking vendors and such but the one thing that the bee has helped me with the most is feeling good about my decisions even when people were not nice about them!

I love this community too… so little snark, so much good honesty! I’ve been reading another marriage-and-wedding blog, which I always thought was lovely, until recently the author got really severe about people having a different opinion that her about something. Okay, it’s her blog, but there’s definitely a community feel there too, and I felt like she shot herself in the foot with her comments. I like that here it’s community MAKING the content, and thus differences of opinion tend to be more respected.
