About Mrs. Pashmina

My Dream Shoes… in 5 to 7 Days!! : wedding catalina island shoes 13 1

I just purchased my dream shoes—the Badgley Mischka Randee! Ever since I saw them back in January I was in love. When I went back to try them on at Nordstrom—where they originally caught my eye—they were gone.

But today I was walking past Wink on Broadway and 69th Street, and I saw the familiar ruffles that I had seen nowhere else until then.

They were black, but those petals hung like full bloom ranunculus.

I tried on the size 9 and 10 at Wink.

The size 9 fit well in length but it felt a bit snug at the ball of the foot. The 10 was a little long and you could see the gold tag sticking out beneath the heel of my foot. I am not crazy about that!

@Wink…Why not in my size!! Bummer. I’ll have to go next door to Magnolia’s Cupcakes for a little treat to soothe the pain ;)

So I went home and went to Nordstrom to see if they had them online. Nope! They’ve been removed from their site. I then went to Zappos.com. They had them in white, antique gold, blush, and black. Originally I swooned over them in the antique gold but then I started thinking that the white would make me feel really elegant. But how wearable after would they be? My guess was not that much, but don’t get me wrong—-I could still rock em. But antique gold would be much more versatile.

Do I want to be versatile on my wedding day? Can I not just buy shoes that went with the dress? That doesn’t seem like that big of a thing. I could just get the shoes that go with the dress! This was my internal dialogue. So needles to say, I had a bit of a hard time deciding between white and antique gold when it was time to put them into the cart. Ultimately I decided to go with what I originally saw—what made my heart go pitter patter in the first place.

This is the theme of my wedding planning—just go with your gut! Take the option that was your first instinct.

So that is how I got from shoe lover to shoe buyer.

This is my shoe love story… now let’s just hope I can wear them in my gown without tripping!

Did you sit on the shoe decision for a long time? Did the shoes you want go out of stock by the time you decided you wanted them? What did you do?

Love them.

My shoes are just slightly too big, but they’re the only pair of them I could find in the whole world. So I bought some padding and I’ll deal.

I took FOREVER to decide on shoes. And then I thought I knew what I wanted and they went out of stock. For months. So I bought another pair that I found on sale at Aldo. That are beautiful but not the color I wanted. THEN my mom offers to buy me the shoes I want, but they are still out of stock. I find another pair I love in the right color and then it turns out that the color on Zappos is not actually the color of the shoe. That color may or may not exist in the future. And THEN the next day the original shoes finally come back in stock after I had given up all hope. Ugh. Glad you finally got yours!

We went to DSW one day when we were shopping for wedding dresses. Pow, there they were, a gold pair of Naturalizer pumps. Comfy, beautiful and pretty with an ivory dress (I already knew it would be ivory). I know they are not a fancy name and I was totally prepared to go that route but these are what I want, I have looked since for fun but nothing else fits the bill like these. Weird eh?

The shoes I originally wanted were about a year old by the time I started wedding planning. Needless to say, they were impossible to find. I found someone selling a pair about a size too big and seriously considered buying them even though she was selling them for almost new pirce. I decided against the sale, and eventually a pair I liked even better came out. I am glad I waited.

I wore these in blush at my wedding recently and just wanted to throw out there that they are WAY more comfortable than they look. If you account for the platform they aren’t that hard to manage. I did change into backup heels at the reception because as comfortable as they are, its a long day…so I’d still recommend backups. GO for the Randee though, I got crazy compliments and they are just lovely.

I got these in the pink and LOVED them.. I ended up sending them back though as they didn’t really match my dress and I thought they might be a bit wobbly..then I saw that Bakers had the white ones for $60!! SO I got those and they’re actually more comfy than the Randees… still having some backups though..
I’m constantly checking out Zappos and Endless.. I think they have the Randees for $150 now. They’re fabulous!!

I am so jealous you get to wear those! They’re my dream shoes, but apparently I was Miss Sensible on the day I ordered my dress, because I told them to hem it to go with 3″ heels. SIGH. Enjoy them!
