Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!

Wedding: The Look

July 9th, 2010 @ 3:01 pm by Mrs. Sand Dollar

My name is Sand Dollar, and I’m a planning addict. I’m the kind of girl who gets things done as soon as the ink is dry on my to-do list. Procrastination is never a problem. But what does that have to do with this post? Well, here I was more than five months away from our wedding day, and I already had my whole look bought and paid for. Now I’m just waiting for the dresses to arrive so I can put it all together and get those suckers altered! Here’s what’s goin’ down:

Dress - “Cleopatra” from the Purely Providential line at Providence Place

And yes, my face is gone for a reason.

It’s horrible! And no, the brown tumors will not be on the final product. We were experimenting with a belt option

Hair Combs - lovingly DIYed by myself. I heart you, Hobby Lobby!

I even have a talented friend doing my hair for the big day. Thanks Bestie C!

Bouquet - Again, DIY. This will be a trend. ;)

Garter - Ribbons and Lace, purchased from Providence Place. Love the camo! There’s even a little bear charm on it. (I was a Baylor Bear, Sic ’Em!)

You can even see my full, scribbled-on planner below it. I told you I’m a go-getter!

Boots - Steve Madden, “Phinixx” in red. I so cannot wait to wear these.

Reception Dress - 838 by Mori Lee in Ivory. Yup, I’m a two dress bride!

And no, it will not be this long. You can bet I’m hemming this sucker shorter!

So there you have it! One snazzy look for one snazzy bride. I’m still looking for a sparkly ribbon/belt for my ceremony gown, and a statement necklace for my reception dress. I’m highly tempted to wear a chunky turquoise one. We’ll see what happens.

How early on did you complete your wedding day look?

I’m still 11 months out and I already have the dress, shoes and a purse. I got a little excited when I got engaged and went a little shop happy.

Um, can I have some of your motivation, please!! The first pic of the combs you showed in another post made me think you bought them (that they were $200 or something) –you did a great job. And your bouquet is so pretty & unique & “green”! I think you should go chunky for your necklace. Your whole look is great! I <3 the reception dress, and I think a belt (see Mrs. Cowboy’s) would be great on your other dress!

A chunky, bright necklace would be the perfect complement to the reception dress and will make you stand out even more. I LOVE the boots, too!

Go with the turquoise! It will look awesome with the white of your dress and the leather of those boots!

Are you wearing the red boots with the short dress too? I hope so, that would great with the turquoise.

I totally will be rocking the red boots all night. And thanks for all the reinforcement, I am now 100% on board with the chunky turquoise necklace. I’m still shopping for a good wedding dress belt though, I was thinking more along the lines of a glittery ribbon belt. If anybody knows of an etsy seller, send her my way!

And sunsets are at their by resplendent during this quarter proportion of twelvemonth, aren’t they? You certainly don’t have to go traditional, but you can have an outdoor wedding, for instance, a garden wedding or a beach wedding, whichever suits your fancy.
