Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

We have been looking for Mr. Cardigan’s suit for months. MONTHS, I tell you. We have an extremely specific idea of exactly what we want, and apparently not many people make it. Our criteria is:

  • Need a vest & pants
  • Charcoal
  • NO PINSTRIPES
  • 5 button vest

Almost every gray suit that we found had pinstripes. Weird, right? Either that or it was like a million dollars. We checked Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target (they actually have a great one, but the pants aren’t available anymore), Men’s Warehouse, JCPenney, and about a million other stores. Of course, Mr. Cardigan isn’t very motivated to look – he keeps telling me “We have so much time!” And then I remind him that “so much time” is actually only 5 months and going by FAST! So, since he has this illusion of having forever, I was the only one really doing any looking. He went to the stores with me, but he was never really motivated to look hard or to buy.

For example, on our first suit shopping expedition, we went to Kohl’s and found a pretty perfect one. It was great, and just what we were looking for. He said that we would just keep it in mind and buy it when the wedding got closer. About a month later I went to look at it and it was gone. Awesome. So, I told him that the next time we found anything we would buy it RIGHT THEN. And then we didn’t find anything for months. Finally, a few weeks ago I told him that I’m done looking – it’s his turn, and I gave him a month to find it. ‘Cause he works better when he has a deadline.

He agreed to finding it himself, but that night I decided to check one more place. Express. They’re a bit out of our budget, but BM Audrey had a coupon that could make it work if we could find one. So, I decided to just check it out really quickly. And guess what? They had the perfect suit. And it was on sale! AND the coupon Audrey had could be used on sale items. So, the next day we dragged Mr. Cardigan and Kyle (Audrey’s husband and one of our groomsmen) to Express to check it out. They loved them, so we ordered them that day.

They came in a few days ago and, y’all… they’re perfect. They’re a really great quality, the perfect color, and they look GREAT on the guys!

Isn’t It Usually the Bride Who Has a Hard Time Finding an Outfit? : wedding austin menswear P4060184 p4060184

Mr. Cardigan’s suit! Finally!!!

We’re both thrilled that we managed to find something so perfect. Now, all we have to do is get shirts for the groomsmen, find some ties, and get their shoes!

Did you have anything that you were looking for that took you FOREVER to find?!

I think that’s the suit we’re getting my honey too. He tried it on and it was perfect. However, I have yet to see it on sale…
I’m holding out hope that it will be discounted soon.

My FI found his solid gray suit at Men’s Warehouse (Calvin Klein no less!), but it didn’t have a vest. Guess we lucked out!

I used to be a manager at Express (it’s actually where I met FI when he was MY manager…) and Express sends out a LOT of coupons to their credit card holders. Even if you open a student account, you’re still eligible for the coupons and your limit is significantly lower. If you have any other questions about Express discounts, feel free to PM me!

Gray is the hottest color for a male suit at the moment and the three piece looks fantastic!

This looks great! I had considered a suit from Express too for Mr. Socks, but we found a couple of others at a Saks Outlet! Mr. C looks dashing!
