Sneaking a Peek?

Sneaking a Peek? : wedding cheyenne traditions Hugh 021 hugh_02

So there’s this really big trend in weddings where the bride and groom do a “first look” instead of waiting until she walks down the aisle. This allows more time for photos and such between the ceremony and reception.

I always thought this was a great idea.

Not only for the time-saving aspect, but it also because it allows for a very private, personal moment with the one you’re about to marry.

I pitched the idea to H. Dizzle and got SHOT DOWN. He put a firm and fast kibosh to that. Apparently he has very strong feelings about seeing me walk down the aisle and that being the first time he sees me on our wedding day. Who knew?! And since I wasn’t adamant about it, merely open to it, I seceded.

Has your fiance had any firm opinions on anything during the planning process?

My fiance also has very strong opinions about doing a first look … he’s absolutely against it; doesn’t want to see me until I am walking down the aisle toward him.

I also thought it would be a great time saver and an opportunity to take some photos beforehand instead of during the cocktail hour, but no dice. In the end, I am okay with it … I would hate to push him into doing something that he’s so set against.

My husband was the same as you! I totally thought he wouldn’t care…when I brought it up he shut me down! I was respectful of his opinion and we didn’t do a first look. But now that I look back I wish we had done one, only because I think it would have really calmed me down a lot. Our pictures were wonderful and we had plenty of time. But I was sooo nervous before…like shaking! LOL

My fiance was against the first look too, and I’m glad we waited. It was so special to see each other for the first time at the ceremony. It added an excitement to the moment that was so emotional and intimate. I think you’ll be happy for the wait, even if it means missing some of the reception for portraits!

mine was against the idea of it as well. i’m not sure what gets into these guys, but they all start with “oh no, you can plan the whole thing” to wanted to be all over the decision-making! Make up your minds! haha, seriously, i wont push him, but i’ll try again right before the wedding and see if he bites. i don’t want to miss cocktail hour taking pics when we look out utmost best!

Looks like a trend. My FI is totally against the idea too…we will not be having a first look.

We decided to do a ‘first look’ because my FI said he didn’t think he could hold it together if the first time he saw me was when I was walking down the aisle. Precious. :)

I love this idea! Luckily, FI is totally on board with this one. :)

My FI was also completely against the idea until I presented him with a laundry list of ideas as to why we should do one, and then he was on board.

Mr. Cardigan said no way to a first look too! He’s very adamant about waiting until the ceremony to see me!

both me and FH are against it - we arent worried about time since we have a “catholic gap” so we have more than enough time to shoot photos.
not to mention the one thing i have always dreamed about is the look on my FH face as i walk down the aisle towards him. thank GOODNESS its not a long aisle! :)

i’m not going to spend a year and a half planning a party just to leave and miss an hour of it! especially since my guests will be traveling to an island to celebrate with us - want to spend time with them. fortunately mr. is totally on board. i also do like the private moment since i’m not one of those brides who relishes the thought of being stared at all day long. fyi my sis’s biggest regret about her wedding is missing the rockin’ cocktail hour for photos.

My FI likes the idea, but I’m totally against it. I want to see him when I walk down the aisle!

Ha! My fiance is exactly the same. I was reading about first looks here a few days ago and casually mentioned it to him and he was all “nuh uh. nope no way. Don’t want to do that.”

98% of the time my fiance is totally chill and goes with things. The things he takes a position on that 2% of the time always shocks me!

My fiance thinks its a great idea. He said that it will help calm him to be able to see my face and chat for a bit. I agree with him and we totally plan on doing so, plus we can kill off 30 minutes of He and She photos before the wedding even starts and possibly make it to the freaking cocktail hour we are paying for lol. I love the whole concept!

When I first learned of this trend (on wedding bee, hehe) I brought it up to my bf because I liked the idea of a personal moment before all the hooplah, and he had the same reaction!!! Then we started talking and it turned out he had strong opinions about a lot of things! Normally he’s so chillaxed, I was amazed to find out he had such strong feelings about our wedding. I plan to listen to him carefully, since he never asks for anything, to make sure he’s as happy as I am on our wedding day.
