Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

As we have discussed before, the road to finding Mr. Cardigan’s (and his groomsmen’s) outfit for the wedding has been… frustrating, to say the least. There have been times where we’ve both wanted to give up and just let them all go naked. But, somehow I have a feeling my grandma might not be too happy about that. So, we’ve forged onward!

We’ve found his suit (and we LOVE it), and we found socks. But that leaves ties, shoes, and shirts. Shirts should be pretty easy (watch me eat my words on that one…) so we’ve been focused lately on ties. From the beginning, we’ve had different ideas about ties - I can’t let go of wanting striped ties, and he’s set on paisley. Now, I know it’s his outfit. And I told him that a million times - he should wear what he wants! But he really respects my opinion when it comes to fashion, and he really wants me to be happy with what he’s wearing. In addition to the fact that I’m not a huge paisley fan, I kept trying to remind him that not all guys will like paisley - and it’s important to us that the guys want to wear their stuff again!

Sooo, we were at a standstill. We had settled the idea that he would wear a yellow paisley tie and the groomsmen would wear…something else. The plan was that they’d be in black or gray ties and he’d be in yellow. And that was that. It was just a matter of finding the ties.

Enter Express (again!). We are so in love with their ties. They’re amazing. They’re really nice, and they have some awesome colors. The only problem? They’re not cheap. So, we bought some ties for 50% off at Macy’s and figured they’d do. They weren’t as good as Express, but they were okay.

THEN! We got some coupons for Express, and showed FMIL Cardigan the ties there. She loved them. A lot. And she’s awesome, so she was willing to spend a little extra to get the (much better quality, and much better looking) ties. All we have to do is order them and we’re one step closer to outfitting the groomsmen! It’s finally all coming together!

The groomsmen will be wearing this tie:

And Mr. C will be wearing this one:

Isn’t It Usually the Bride Who Has a Hard Time Finding an Outfit? Part II : wedding austin menswear 23 2

Can you tell who won the battle of the tie pattern? ;)

Hey, the stripes vs. paisley debate sounds just like ours! And ultimately, my stripes won out too. I’m persuasive like that. :)

Love the ties you picked — and I think we’re going to go check out the argyle socks later today, thanks to you!

Stripes for the win! The men will look very nice in those ties! Definitely worth the extra money, IMO.

Be careful with colours on express…I bought skinny gray & yellow striped ties and socks, colour combo called ‘Brilliant’, where the shades looked very similar to that, and the yellow turned out to be a bright fluro yellow, like a highlighter marker….they have a pretty good returns policy, so you can return them easily at least, but I had my first ‘Bridezilla’ tantrum when they arrived!

haha that’s so funny that he loves paisley! I love it too, but I think you chose a perfect tie for him!
