About Mrs. Lobster

Inde-shoe-scion

July 14th, 2010 @ 6:12 pm by Mrs. Lobster

Remember the shoe shopping I did? The package arrived this weekend. Woohoo! We have some clear losers and some maybe winners in this game o’ shoe. Let’s get right to business.

3 Ninas walk into a bar…

Culver, Elga, Electra

The verdict?

No wins here.

The Culver was the most sensible but I felt it lacked something special I wanted in my wedding shoe.

The Elga I wanted to love but there was no peep in the toe despite being a peep toe.

The Electra had the same problem and were too tall. I love the satin bow.

Next up…

Randall, meet Laela. Laela, Randall.

Another Badgley Mischka FAIL! What is with these shoes? I previously also tried Randall’s cousin the Randee and had the same issue as many of its reviewers - way too tall. Way too wobbly. ’Sup, Badgley’s??

Super cute but I can barely stand without falling over.

And finally the blue Pour La Victoire Laela’s. At 3.25″, compared to the other shoes, that’s downright reasonable. Plus I love the bow! These girls were comfortable, cute, and would provide that hidden pop of blue under my wedding dress.

Lobster tested. Buddy approved.

Buddy’s very discriminating eye

Still, I’m not ready to commit.

Do you think I should keep looking? Or quit while I’m ahead?

Those shoes look great on your feet, but if they aren’t “the one” then keep looking. I’m assuming you have a month to return shoes so why not look around some more and wait to return the blue ones. If you don’t find anything else, wear those. Plus they are so cute you can find something to wear them with eventually if not for the wedding.

Oh gosh, you’re so right about the Badgely Mischkas - I couldn’t stand in the pair I tried on either. They make beautiful shoes, but clearly they don’t expect anyone to actually wear them.
And my toes didn’t really peep through in my Nina Electras either, but I loved them all the same.

I like the blue ones! I say keep ‘em as a very good back-up and just be on the lookout for another pair that you like better!

I couldn’t commit either when it came to shoes! I bought the Nina Electras in Ivory in the 3.25″ heel and just wasn’t in love, then I later came across some GORGEOUS J Crew beauties on Ebay and HAD to have them. They were amazing, but were sooo busted by the end of the night. I don’t think I will be wearing them again as our wedding completely wore them out but they were perfect.

I agree with Mrs. Trail Mix. Keep the blue ones until something better comes along (if it every does!). :)

I wore the Culver, but in taupe color. It matched my jewelry. Now I wear them as an evening shoe when I need a neural heel.

I vote for the blue ones. They are gorgeous, and check out your gams in them! Oh, la la!

I love the blue…but on a side note…

I bought Ivory shoes similar to the culver, and you are right…they are kind of just “meh” they needed something. for 25.00 from Aldo shoes (you can get them elsewhere) I was able to purchase some crystal brooches that just clip onto your shoe…all of a sudden POP!!

Before

After

I have since then purchased some AMAZING purple shoes…but same deal…I just unclipped the crystal brooch and placed it on the new shoes.

Sorry…a little long :)

I love that shade of blue! Those were my wedding shoes, but I had the baby blue ones. They were pretty comfortable…until I walked up and down the Vegas strip for an hour and a half taking pictures ;) But, I did love them, they’re really cute shoes!

I also bought the Nina Culvers, still have them too- pretty but no oomph. I bought the Electra in purple way before when I thought I wanted purple shoes, but you’re right, a bit too tall.

that’s unfortunate about the Badgley Mischka Randall’s! They were my wedding shoes and I loved them! My feet did hurt by the end of the long night but I had no regrets, they are beauties. I guess the search continues! But the blue ones are pretty, too.

I’m annoyed those Badgelys are so hard to stand in because they are so gorgeous!!! But I do love those blue ones, if you don’t happen to find another pair of shoes I’d say you’ve made a wonderful choice!

I’m a sucker for blue shoes and I almost went with that pair myself. I say go for it. Much prettier than all the white ones.

I really love the blue ones ~ honestly, I’d probably buy them if I stuck with my original plan of bright blue heels, but with an outdoor reception, I’m going with flats now.
I would say stick with them - you have enough to worry about and can finally cross shoes off your list of things to do/buy. They are really striking and beautiful, plus with a long dress, they wont be the center of attention anyway… I would maybe keep an eye out for something you love more, but I wouldnt put much more effort into the search when you’ve got such a great option already :)
