About Mrs. Socks

Date Night

July 15th, 2010 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Socks

Mr. Socks and I go out pretty often—we’re in Philly a few times a week, we love trying new restaurants and activities, and it just seems like we never have time to get bored since we run around so much. As much as we get out of the house though, there’s just something about making time for those special nights. You know, the nights out that you look forward to all week long and think about the next day? The kind of night that holds a special place in your heart and your relationship may not be the same without it?

For us, those nights include Tria Cafe.

Tria is a wine, cheese and beer cafe that has two restaurant locations in Philadelphia, as well as a “fermentation school” where they teach classes on different wines, beers and cheeses. With every visit to their cafe or fermentation school, it seems like our bond with each other grows deeper—we get to let every ounce of stress melt off of us as we try new things and immerse ourselves just in good food and beverages.

Last night was one of these evenings as we had a class at Tria’s fermentation school.

See what I mean about letting stress and worry roll off of you?

So once a month, Mr. Socks and I take one of theses classes and we get to share one of our greatest passions with each other. This week has been a particularly stressful week for us, but last night, it just didn’t matter. We were completely in the moment with each other, enjoying each others’ company while we even learned a few fascinating things about wine, cheese and beer!

Dates like these are important to us because I think it serves as a reminder that taking the time to enjoy each other—even in the midst of a stressful week—makes us a stronger couple, and just makes us HAPPY. It’s our safe-haven, the place we can go to guarantee a good evening to reconnect and refocus on what we’re really doing here—marrying the person who challenges us, learns with us, grows with us, and whose companionship is something we can’t live without.

Do you have a safe-haven for your relationship? A place that you go back to again and again because it brings you and your significant other closer to each other?

Sounds fab! Thanks so the info, I may have to try this out although since I’m about an hour away we might have to make a weekend of it. ;-)

TRIA!! We *heart* Tria. It was our very first stop after getting engaged in Rittenhouse and has always felt like a home away from home. So tasty, so cozy and so much fun.

Interesting about the wine courses. For over a year, I’ve wanted to do it, but can’t get up there in time for class. All those wine glasses lined up circling the clipboard are calling to my inner wine geek.

I LOVE Tria. I’ve been dying to do a wine or beer class but just can’t seem to find the time. Maybe one day we’ll see you there, though!!

We can’t afford to go on a date right now, haha. If I don’t have something to look forward to on the weekend I go crazy at work though. This weekend we are going to the beach for the first time this summer, hooray! We loooove the beach!
