I know, I know. The whole “STD” joke is totally overplayed. But it makes me giggle. ‘Cause I’m 12.
I’m so, so, so excited to be sharing our STDs with y’all (bahaha! See? It’s just funny!). I have always thought that I would be making our Save the Dates myself, for the sake of saving money (and because I’m a glutton for punishment and can’t turn down a DIY project!) but we actually ended up outsourcing them.
Steve Howe, one of our photographers, just so happens to double as a graphic designer. A very, very talented one, actually. I had seen some of his work previously, when we met with his wife, Melanie. He designed the STDs and invitations for their own wedding, and she showed them to us while we were there. I vaguely remembered her mentioning that they plan to someday expand their business from just photography into designing paper goods as well, so when it came time to design our STDs, I figured I might as well ask if Steve would be willing to do them for us. I emailed him, thinking that since they they hadn’t technically started up the design portion of their business yet, I’d probably get turned down. However, he emailed me back and said that he’d be happy to design our STDs for us.
I really cannot even begin to tell you how glad I am that I had Steve do these for us. He is so insanely and awesomely talented, and he took the (extremely) random inspiration photos that I sent him and my nonsensical description of what we wanted (“Bright! And fun! And I want to use our photos! And I want it to be happy!”) and turned it into the absolute perfect Save the Date for us.

(Please excuse my lack of talent at taking detailed photos)
And a few detail shots:

SO cute! He actually drew little cartoons of us based on our engagement photos, which I think is so much better than actually having our photos. And I love the little details, like my shoe falling off!
With such amazing Save the Dates, I knew that I had to really step it up when it came to what I put them in. So, of course, I had to order some of my beloved Kraft paper envelopes from Envelope Mall, and I had to find some super cute wrapping paper to line them with! This is what I came up with:

And for the front, I used the font that we’ll be using for most of our paper goods. It’s called Budmo Jiggler, and I got it from DaFont! You’ve seen it once already on our activity books, and I plan to use it on pretty much everything, because I’m all about keeping things consistent!

(It never looks quite as pretty when you blur it all out!)
We sent them out a few weeks ago, and have been getting really positive reactions from our guests! One of my cousins even told me it was the coolest Save the Date he had ever seen! I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to top these when it comes time to design our invitations!
Did you DIY your STDs or did you have someone else do them for you? Also, please tell me I’m not the only 12 year old who giggles every time I see “STD”!
