Ahaha, get it?!?! The Pencils NUMBER TWO reception? Like a number two pencil?!?! Ahaha!

Hokay, so. Remember a really long time ago I told you all about our plans to have a second wedding reception in my hometown in Idaho?! No? That’s a’ight! This past weekend, though, it happened—we gathered with fifty of (mostly my) friends and family to celebrate Mr. Pencils’ and my May nuptials with some kegs, some BBQ, and delicious sheet cake. It was friggin’ fantastic.

Mr. P and I began the trip with, what else, multiple layovers. The best of which occurred in Memphis, where we sampled some original Southern barbecue. I promptly declared myself vegetarian on Wednesday and ate pork ribs on Thursday. I’m still trying…

Mr. P was veerrrry excited.

Yum! Then, in honor of our pork BBQ, we acted like pigs. I’ll save Mr. P’s rep and not post his, but you all know I don’t care!

Apparently I’m an angry piglet.

After a lovely day or two in my hometown, the evening had arrived. I had rented out a large portion of the largest park in my town of Pocatello—and one of the only with a pavilion that also allowed beer. My future sister-in-law Lauren, my best friend’s mother Rosie and bestie Katie arrived early with my other family to help set up.

I had purchased some delicious white and chocolate cakes from Costco—they really have the most amazing cheescakey filling.

We even got to use some leftover cocktail napkins again!

We set up a table with our postcard guestbook, some matchbox favors, programs from the wedding day itself, and bubbles leftover for the kiddos.

It was a gorgeous day, especially with the Fort Hall replica in the background!

One of the best parts of the whole day was the surprise bestie Cara had made for me—underwear cake! If you look closely on the sides, you can see the little buttocks adorned in undies!

It was a very chill evening. Friends and family reconnecting…

… enjoying the pork ribs, beef brisket, Dutch oven potatoes and green beans…

As people enjoyed their food, I was able to spend time with friends I never get to see enough…

Even my parents got to reconnect with their friends!

My mom even rocked her own PWC…

I snagged a few moments with my dear, darling husband…

Soon, it was time to cut the cake for the second time! But no carrot cake for me this time! Nope!

I am just SO EXCITED!

My little cousins weren’t much interested though. They mainly played with the puppy my other cousins brought.

We still cut the cake and smashed our frosting knives in each others’ faces.

Then I had to thank Cara for her cake and cut it too!

Then we said something inappropriate to each other…

As the sun began to set…

I tried to squeeze in as much time as possible with people I won’t see again for a while…

I really, really wanted to visit the Fort Hall replica but it closed before I could make it over. I made Mr. P snap this photo of me “visiting” the site anyway!

Soon, everyone had left and my family snapped this timed photo of ourselves.

Our trip back to my home wasn’t over yet, though. We still had to float the Portneuf River. For everyone in my hometown, this is something that we all do sometime in junior high or high school, promptly get a major scrape, bruise or otherwise from the low water, high rocks, and rapids. For Mr. P, from Maryland, this is something he just has.to.do every time we’re in town.

My parents agreed to go with us, while my brother future sister Lauren hung back to take photos.

I was really excited to see what I could bruise this time around!

After one float down with my parents and husband, we made it out of the water.

Mr. Pencils was walking on air, he loved it so much.

I had taken a big tumble at one rapid, hit my head, lost my sunglasses (which were on my head), scraped my arm and ruined my mascara. I was tough though.

My poor daddy had taken MANY tumbles though, and he and I were exhausted. My mom had only fallen out once and Mr. P, not at all! Punks.

After another two floats, Mr. Pencils was riding his high.

Daddy Pencils and I decided we needed ice cream; we snapped a photo on the way to the ice cream parlor. It was a fantastic day, though my father is going to lose a toenail from his tumbles, and I have major bruisage going on all over my legs and arms.

With that, we hiked it back to our respective cars for a final family dinner before Mr. P boarded our plans back to Maryland the next morning.

And so my darlings, this is where I leave you. It’s been a pleasure—more than a pleasure, a privilege–to be with you all, to share with you all, to learn from you, laugh with you, and wedding plan with you.

Thank you for being an amazing community, for supporting each other when a major or minor wedding issue comes up, and for rallying around each other when the going gets tough (or even when a shoe debacle arises).
