Ring Box

July 16th, 2010 @ 1:36 pm by Mrs. Sewing

We don’t have a ring bearer, due to lack of cute little children or fuzzy pets. Mr. Sew’s brother will simply carry them in his pocket.

And trivial as it may be, I wasn’t satisfied with the box our rings came in.

It’s grey and boring, but more substantially - it’s really big. I didn’t think it would fit comfortably in Mr. Sew’s bro’s pocket.

Instead, I thought of how fun it would be to put our rings in a capsule ball - like the kind you get $1.00 Pokemon toys from.

Though unfortunately, Mr. Sew wasn’t having any of that. Here’s what he sent me in response to my emailed idea:

“The problem with capsules:

Setting: outside in the parking lot

  1. Sew-bro gets out of the car and the ring capsule falls out of his pocket.
  2. Said capsule begins to roll in the lot picking up speed…
  3. rings fall into storm drain, never to be seen again.

… so I’d say go with a box”

I emailed back, “Can I at least decorate the box?”

To which he replied:

“This falls into the category of details that will cause Miss Sewing to forget the more important things. She will end up doing everything even more last minute, and then she’ll find some way to blame me.”

Who, me?

Undeterred - I decided that if I couldn’t use a capsule, and I couldn’t decorate my own box, I would at least find an interesting pre-decorated box. Like these:

The brocade-covered boxes were not only super-cute, but cheap too, at 6 boxes for about $5. The only problem was the fact that they came in randomly-assorted packages. Of course I wanted the red box, but there would be no guarantee I’d get one.

I forked over my electronic $5 anyway, and begged in the comments for a red box.

And lo and behold, the seller was sweet enough to give me not one, but TWO red boxes!

They are really small though, so our rings will have to snuggle.

Cute, small enough for a pocket, no precious DIY time used up - check!

What are you holding your rings in during the ceremony?

“They are really small though, so our rings will have to snuggle.” Cutest thought about a ring box ever!

And we have our dogs as Flower Dog (boy) and Ring Dog (boy). I don’t exactly what we’ll do to keep them on said Ring Dog, but 3 weeks and 6 days is enough time to figure that stuff out, right?

My daughter is is our ring bearer. But she really wanted to be flower girl. So we said “why not both?” She will be wearing our rings on a chain around her neck as she does her flower girl strut down the aisle.

It occurs to me I have no idea how our rings got to the altar. When we unpacked the car at the venue, I made a big show of where I put them, so the maximal number of people would know where they were, but after that…

Mad props, best man. You did your job well.

Ooh so pretty! I made a little ring pillow for our ring boy - I didn’t have a sewing machine so I sewed it by hand, which was fine except that I didn’t know how to close the stitch so it’s a teeny bit ruined on one side. OK a lot ruined. But with one month to go, I’m over it and not turning back. I should’ve just bought a pretty box.

We almost did our favors in those PokeBall things, until we realized we couldn’t get as much candy into them as we wanted! Sad. SO colorful and fun!!

So funny! I always hate it when my fiance points out to me exactly what will happen in the end! haha.

KRISTIN APPROVES OF THINGS ON THEME! What a perfect ring box!

So we just got a ring bearer. After moaning and groaning about how no one was coming from the groom’s side, his brother is coming! Plus his brothers baby momma, baby, and 2 year old son. The 2 year old is so so CUUUTE! with blond hair an blue eyes and he’s English so he’s got a cute little accent like that Charlie bit my finger kid. So, good question, what WILL we be using for our ring carryying needs?

@TheFutureMcBride: you’ll figure it out! i love pet-ring bearers!
@FutureSteelFox: awesome! double the special-ness! :)
@Ms. Sapphire: my belief is that there’s something extra special about home-made stuff, even if it isn’t as perfect as a factory made product!
@crayfish: aww, boo! that would’ve been cool!
@heathermarie18: @808mjm202: hehe, thanks for the interest! I’m planning to give them to my grandmother though, for her huge jewelry collection. The link to the etsy shop where I got them is above though, they still have some in stock!
@xoxokristin: aww! he sounds so cute! especially that accent! :) I’m sure you’ll find something perfect for him!

Great choice. It’ll make for some pretty pictures too! We’re using books that I found on our book shelf wrapped with ribbon.

I love those boxes, and I love that they match everything so well! We haven’t figured out what we’ll do yet, but we’ve got plenty of time. Hopefully something cute and Irish will make it’s way to me in the next couple months… :)
