Favourite Things: Headbands

July 16th, 2010 @ 6:40 pm by Mrs. Knitting

Until pretty recently I thought headbands were stupid. Whenever anyone mentioned headbands all I could picture were the hideous ones I owned growing up in the early nineties. Now that I’ve seen some of the completely gorgeous headbands that are around today I’ve completely changed my mind and am now pretty obsessed with gorgeous headbands.

This is the one that makes me a bit sad that I already have something to wear on my head for the wedding.

This one below is a key! I am in love with vintage keys so this immediately caught my attention. I’m not totally sure if I love it as a headband or if I’m just really excited it’s a key.

I tend to squeal (in a grown up and sophisticated way), “Oooh poppies” whenever I see poppies, so obviously I’m a big fan of this one.

I’d love to wear one of these for our wedding, but between my headpiece and my scarf, I think I have enough head accessories going on. I’ll just have to have these for other occasions. I suspect headbands will be making an appearance in many of my future formal outfits.

Are you a headband bride?

I’m a headband bride (though not as elaborate as those) and my MOH/sister will be also. She actually wants that Anthroplogie one! I’m not sure if it matches her dress yet and if it doesn’t, she wants me to make it. Yikes!

I’m going to be a headband bride too! I had one from Anthro, it was so lovely, but it competed too much with my dress… I’ll probs make one or just grab some trim.

I was not a headband bride - I think my head looks funny with them :( I love them on other people though!

UM, I LOVE headbands! particularly the one in your first photo.
I was a headband bride!

From my understanding the first photo is inspired by the headband that January Jones wore to the 2008 Emmy’s. I loved it so much, and knew I could made something similar. So I did. It was pretty easy too. Check out my preview of my wedding photos to see the headband in action.

I just did a much more simple 3 strand as the 5 strand got to be too much. I loved it and I think it turned out pretty darn great if I do say so myself. Actually, I think mines better. With the one you have above, I actually looked into purchasing that on Etsy, but she used a ribbon to tie the back and I did not want that. I just used stretchy cord and it worked great!

I’m going to be a headband bride!! I fell in love after the lady at the dress shop draped a gorgeous one on me when I tried my dress on. But it was OVER 200 bucks. For.A.Headband!!

Etsy to the rescue! I’m getting this little piece of prettyness!!

I love it so much b/c the ends of the ribbon will hang down my back and they have sparklies on them too! It’s like extra back jewellery!

Miss Knitting, you could always rock one for your Rehearsal!?

I am a Jennifer Behr headband bride! I am wearing one in place of a veil.

I wore a veil for the ceremony, but returned to the comfort of the headband for the rest of the evening.
