Instead of doing a traditional guestbook at the shower, the Starfish Girls put little books at each table for guests to write in. Each page asked the guest’s name and relationship with the bride and groom, and there was room to write advice or well wishes.
The cover says:
“As they begin their journey
A brand new Mr. & Mrs.
they could surely use
your advice and wishes.
Share with them your wisdom
about marriage, love and life.
The secret to being a good husband,
or thoughtful loving wife!”
These were so fun to read after the shower. I loved hearing advice from different generations and it was even fun to read what people put as our relationship. One of my neighbors from my childhood home wrote: “Relationship: Favorite Neighbor” and another put “Favorite Cousin”, both of whom I babysat when they were younger.
Some of the advice and wishes were funny, while others were sentimental. It was so fun, and a bit emotional to see what everyone put.
This seems to be a popular trend at weddings. I loved having it at the shower, but think it would be fun to do at a wedding, too! I’m sure the guys could come up with some fun advice!
We even got a few repeats of advice like, “Miss Starfish is always right”. Can you tell this shower was with the women on my side of the family?
Are you asking your guests for well wishes or advice? Do you have a creative way of doing so?
