Mrs. Pudding's Picture
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

Since getting married over a week ago, I get questions like this a lot: “Does it feel different?”, “Do you feel more like an adult?”, and so on. To be perfectly honest, there is only one answer that I can come up with when probed like this.

“So, what does it feel like to be a married lady?”

Well, I mostly feel hungry.

Confused? Well, you know how people always say that you need to remember to eat on your wedding day? Well, amongst the lists and schedules that I created for our wedding, I forgot to make a conscious effort to eat. On the day of our reception, I had half a bagel on our way to the hairdresser, and than didn’t eat anything until dinner was served at our reception (at around 6:30PM). Of course, when I received my soup course (a delicious cream of mushroom) I had about three spoonfuls before my poor shrunken stomach yelled at me to take it easy! I had a couple of bites of the main course, and than nibbled on the midnight buffet. I had about two bites of our delicious wedding cake. All in all, I would say that I consumed under 1000 calories that day.

To make matters worse, my eating habits were pretty much just as dismal during our polterabend/rehearsal dinner, and our Sunday Poprawiny.

That means that I spent a whole three days celebrating, dancing, socializing, and stressing, but not really eating a whole lot.

When the rest of the guests left on Monday, I found myself devouring everything in sight. We had quite a lot of food left over from the wedding, including a lot of cake. I swear for the first three days after the wedding I ate an average of 5 pieces of cake every day. Everyone kept telling me that I looked very thin on our wedding day. I didn’t really believe them. But on Wednesday night, I decided to weigh myself. I stepped on the scale, and was completely shocked: After three days of binge eating, I was still 7 pounds under my regular weight.

I am a total cautionary tale, ladies. Make sure to eat on your wedding day! Write it into your schedule! Force yourself to put some of the delicious food that your guests are consuming into your mouth! It seems easy enough, but it is the hardest thing to remember!

And since this is my first official post as a MRS (!!!), I couldn’t leave you without a little teaser pic. Enjoy!

This can definitely happen. I think a lot of people have a hard time eating before anything important or that might make them nervous. I notice that I don’t eat when I’m stressed, busy or preoccupied. I bought my size 6 wedding dress in February and when I went back for alterations I was able to fit into a size 2– due largely to the fact that I was working two jobs and had my wisdom teeth out (eating nothing for three weeks but yogurt and mashed bananas.)

I guess on the bright side, you got to eat all that cake and lose weight :)

Gorgeous, gorgeous photo, and a great reminder! I have a tendency to forget to eat when I’m really excited or busy, so I may have this problem too!

I FORCED myself to eat during dinner at the reception. I hardly ate anything all day and had been drinking bloody mary’s and mimosa’s all morning/afternoon while getting ready. I did nibble on a muffin or two but that was it ,so the first thing we did during the reception was go around and greet all of the tables and then I was like “I am sitting down, and eating, and no one bother me until I’m finished.” Best decision I ever made. I also highly recommend ordering midnight pizza if you don’t have a midnight buffet!

I also lost a TON of weight before and during the wedding. One month later it’s all back though! :)

Congratulations! Welcome back! That is a gorgeous picture of all of you. I wish I had the problem of not eating before big events. I am the exact opposite.

I must say that is a spectacular photo! Your comments brought back memories of my wedding. I remember being so thirsty that I downed a bottle of beer with strict instructions for no pictures of me chugging it.

I wasn’t the typical bride…I didn’t lose weight for my wedding (even though I needed to) and I pigged out on my wedding meal. I couldn’t eat all day, so when dinner time came and I finally felt hungry I scarfed every last bite! :) And I had the servers cut a slice of each flavor (a total of 4!) of our wedding cake so I could eat it all, but by the time I got back to our sweetheart table after taking some photos with guests some jerk guest (I later found out who it was) ate my wedding cake and there wasn’t any left for me or my new husband! :( So, for future brides, have someone guard your cake!

As for your teaser photo, I LOVE it! Can’t wait to see more!

Well I personally didn’t eat or drink much on my wedding day just because honestly i didn’t want to have to visit the bathroom in my dress…lol.
So I nibbled here and there, but no meals. But truly I don’t think I would’ve anyway, there was just not a whole lot of time.

I love that teaser pic!! It’s beautiful. I really really want to eat on my wedding day! I often forget to eat when I stress so I am hoping this doesn’t happen. I will put a brother in charge of prepping my plates and hoarding my food!

First: congratulations!!!

I totally hear you on the forgetting to eat during the wedding day thing! Things were so busy, even though I did take time to try to eat, it wasn’t as much as I normally would have consumed…and with the craziness of the reception, I was able to eat a little bit of dinner but not much!

And that teaser pic is just too gorgeous!
