Oh, geez.
Ohhhh, geez.
I’ve gone and done something I NEVER thought I would do.
I’ll set the scene for you:
BM Lea’s dress came in a couple of weeks ago, and when I went to David’s Bridal to pick it up, lo and behold, it was the wrong dress. I was a bit irritated with them, but thought oh, well, left, and went about my merry little life.
This past Friday, they called to say that her dress was in again, and while I waited for them to bring it out, I saw a lovely dress that I hadn’t seen a few weeks earlier:

Well, THAT looks familiar.

Oh, I didn’t tell you about my little shopping trip to a high-end bridal shop, did I? Well, the Augusta Jones Chenoa dress, above, was one I INSTANTLY fell in love with when I tried it on back in December. I didn’t bother mentioning it to anyone though because it was over $2600 in the Thai silk that I wanted. I really didn’t give it TOO much thought after I tried it on in the bridal shop because it was so out of my league. I might have visited it online a few times, but quickly put it out of my head.
So anyway, there I stood in David’s Bridal, not looking for a new gown, but having a flashback to how much I LOVED that Augusta Jones dress. I made an offhand comment to the saleslady that the dress in front of me would have been a serious contender if they had had it in a couple months earlier.
The lovely, nice saleslady looked at me and asked if I had gotten my dress altered yet, which I hadn’t, so she said that they could happily exchange the dresses if I wanted, and that I could try it on.
Well. I tried it on. And I instantly loved it. Just like the Augusta Jones. After a phone call to my mom, sending cell phone pictures, she agreed that she loved it too. I asked my consultant if she could hold on to the dress for me until the next morning. I had to sleep on it and get my mom’s opinion in-person, you know!
And the next morning, with Momma Socks by my side, we loved it just as much. No, it’s not short, which I loved my short dress, and would still be happy as punch to wear it for my wedding, but there’s just something about the Augusta Jones look alike that I loved the instant I tried it on.
I feel a bit abashed about the situation since I always thought it was a bit silly for brides to try on dresses after they already bought a dress—I thought it was just setting yourself up to end up with a second dress, and lose money on a resale. Honestly, I never would have tried the dress on if I hadn’t been told I could exchange the one I had for it. Luckily, everything worked out, my new dress was $50 less than my original dress, and with the extra $50, I put it toward this headpiece:

I like it, a lot! I probably would have bought a different headband if I hadn’t had to use that $50 the same day, but I definitely like this and think it’ll look great on my wedding day. I might have to see if I can add more feathers though!
I am SO excited about my new dress… I can’t believe how similar it is to the Augusta Jones Chenoa! I mean, seriously?

Wow. I’m SO in love with this new choice and I honestly love it so much that I kinda want to wear it all around the house.
Did you end up finding a couture look-lalike dress for less? Did you buy two dresses?
