Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).

Branching Out: Part III

July 19th, 2010 @ 11:14 am by Mrs. Locket

When I last left off I showed you all the branched goodness that invites could offer and I even created my own mock-up (soon to be revealed). Today, I present to you some lovely “branched out” wedding cakes.

This one here is pretty and probably one of my favorites, though I wish the branches weren’t so fat:

This second one is more fall themed, which is great.

I like the color of the fall leaves better than the prior.

This one is much more simplistic, but I like it.

And check out this cake topper tree! It would be a great way to spice up a simple cake.

And, to tie in the vineyard theme, I drool over this grapevine and grape covered cake.

Right now I am not sure I want to go this route for cake decor, but it’s nice to get an idea of what our options are. I really want a cake that fits perfectly into our wedding and I am not quite sure a “branched out” cake is the way to go.

What about you? What will your cake look like? Are you keeping a theme in mind for its decor?

my cake had branches, leaves, and fruit on it and was fall-themed. very similar to some of these you have pictured.
i had to laugh at that first one - the branches are so thick it kind of looks like poo on a cake. I wonder why they made it like that?

#4 is my favorite. That first one, um… well… does not look appetizing at all. It’s horrid! I agree with @amariem25. It looks like there’s poop all over the cake. Yuck-o.

I really, really, REALLY wanted a cherry blossom cake, but it was going to end up costing a lot of money =/

So instead, our cake has fireworks designed all over it. Which, truly fits out July 2 wedding!

We are going to have a cake buffet/bar. I am not a fan of wedding cakes so we are going to the coolest bakery in town and getting 6 or 7 different cakes and the guests can choose whatever flavor they want. These guys know how to dress up a cake so they will all look fab! http://www.extraordinarydesserts.com/wholecakes.htm The only question is what to do about a cake topper for the one that we cut?

that tree in the second to last cake looks familiar. i think mrs. kiwi may have blogged about it. now that i’ve dated myself, i don’t really have a theme planned for the cake. we’re having cupcakes with a smaller tier to cut so i really don’t care more for how it all looks.

I love that second cake! Ours is just going to be plain with a bunch of flowers sticking out of the side.
