Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

We had our engagement photos done several months ago, and I really really love them. The only problem? Ever since we got them, they’ve just been sitting around on my computer, not really doing anything.

I mean, sure, I put them on our wedding website. And we’re both using e-photos as profile pictures on Facebook. But, we didn’t really spend all that money on an engagement shoot just to have pretty Facebook photos, right? So, I decided to finally do something about it!

That’s right – I made a photobook! I had been procrastinating on making one, because I just couldn’t decide which company to use…there are so many to choose from, and we all know how I am with making decisions. I figured I’d keep going back and forth forever, and we’d never really end up getting one. But, when we registered at Target a couple of months ago, we got a $20 gift card to Shutterfly. Decision made! Shutterfly it is.

I had a blast making our photobook, and I thought it was nice that I was able to include some of the photos that aren’t necessarily our favorites (meaning they won’t end up on FB or our wedding website) but that we still liked.

I’m really proud of this little book, and I plan to proudly display it at the wedding for our guests to peruse.

I took a few photos, partially because I want to show it off, but also because when I was working on deciding which company to use, it was always helpful to see books from different companies. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of our little Shutterfly book, and I can’t say enough good things about their quick service – we got our book less than a week after ordering it!

Anyways, here are the goods:

The cover (whoops – bad glare!)

The pages in the book aren’t super thick, but I definitely think they’re good enough. I was worried about some of the photos (specifically the ones that I designed to bleed all the way to the edges) but it all looks great! The only possible complaint I could find are that some of the colors in the book aren’t quite as vibrant as I’d like them to be, but I can’t complain because I got a great price on it! Here are a few of my favorite pages:

Last page!

And the back cover.

I’m super proud of this little album, and I’m so glad we decided to get it. I’m a pretty big scrapbooker, and I create one for Mr. Cardigan every year for his birthday – so I think this will fit in nicely with all of our scrapbooks!

Did you order an engagement photo album? What company did you use? I should probably start thinking NOW about who we’ll use for our wedding album!

Awww! Those photos are great. I love those photobooks–I had a coupon to Snapfish and got one made with some of the photos we took the weekend we got engaged. It is a tiny little book but makes a really nice keepsake–and easier than pulling up a computer program whenever I want to show the photos from that weekend!

Your book is amazing.. I especially love the picture on the first page! My FI and I will be getting our e-pictures taken in September, and you’ve inspired me to get a book done as well. Fabulous job!

I plan to make one of these with our engagement pics for our guest book. So far I think I will use blurb. Yours came out great, makes me think I may want to look into Snapfish.

So many things of our wedding are alike it’s beginning to scare me. I have to be honest. I’m going to Texas (Midland) in August with my fiance for his grandma’s 80th birthday and I actually told him “I want to find Miss Cardigan and meet her!” I know, I’m sad. But I love love LOVE your posts and so many of our similarities. I love reading your posts and then sharing my stuff.

So here I go with the sharing: I’ve used Shutterfly tons of times. It’s GREAT! Once you use them, they email you coupons and discounts CONSTANTLY. My fiance is a photographer for a profession so I made him a “sample book of his work” using Shutterfly for Valentine’s Day. It came out GREAT! It’s a little 8×8 that he can take EVERYWHERE to show off to potential clients! I made another 8×8 for my dad for father’s day of his girls through the years and that this was his last father’s day with me as his “baby” and not as the woman he just gave away! It does WONDERS! Anywhoo as far as our wedding album we are probably going to use White House Custom Color out of LA. Their books are AWESOME but you have to have a photographer who is hooked up with the company order it. It’s not open to the public. Their books are around $200 but they are to die for!

okay. Sharing is over… looking forward to the next round! :)

Your booked turned out great. Shutterfly is where I order all of my prints, so I am definitely considering them for a weddingbook.

Wow - very impressed with your photo book. Great pictures, great book!

I’m planning to make photo books with our wedding pictures for various family members (both sets of parents, parents of the FG & RB, etc.) at the holidays. You’ve got me excited and looking forward to starting on them!!

Looks like a great little book for a great price with a coupon! I may or may not die soon unless we get our pro pics back so I can make parent’s albums!

@crazybabyinlove: Aw, thanks! You’re so sweet! Too bad Midland is so far away, or we’d have to arrange some sort of bee meet-up while you were here!

Very nice turn out! I actually did make a book of our engagement pics too with Snapfish. My first 2 books from there were for our cross country roadtrip during which our proposal happened & then I just kept going for every trip etc. It’s a great & inexpensive way to showcase al the photo memories!

Beautiful. I adore the black and white close ups with your ring and your smile in the background. How do you think my photographer will take to, “Well I saw these pictures on weddingbee….” :)

Your album came out great :) I just made a guestbook using our e-pics on Blurb–yet to see how it will turn out, but I definitely had fun making it!

@Miss Cardigan: Texas is like the LARGEST STATE EVER! Hahaha! I know we’re going to be going to San Angelo and possibly San Antonio but not Austin! :(

I’ve used Kodak before (not for e-photos), and they’ve come out wonderfully! You can even buy the linen ones with the sheer paper, and they look incredibly professional and beautiful. Your book looks great - and the photos are incredibly vibrant! Congrats!
