Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.

An Engagement Shoot for Us

July 20th, 2010 @ 9:43 am by Mrs. Earrings

Finally. We chose to go the route of hiring a student photographer to take our engagement photos, and then saved money further by having Mr E do all the post-editing. The shoot actually took place in early March, but because of his hectic student schedule Mr E was only able to finish editing them over our winter break.

(Recognize this pic? It is one of the first engagement pics that got edited and I snuck it into my intro post! :) )

Part of me wishes we had splurged on a pro, but then the other part of me knows that just wasn’t an option.

There are things I love and things I don’t love about these pics, but in the end, the things I love carry the most weight and overall I am happy we have these pics to mark our engagement period. They were taken on the university campus where I study (it is all gorgeous and woodsy there), and we hope to use them to make a photo guestbook for the wedding.

So here are my favourites, in all their imperfectly perfect glory! :)

Hmm. Now I’m feeling nostalgic. I think the more I look at them, the less critical I get and the happier I am with how they came out.

Did you have an engagement photo shoot? Did you hire a pro or go the budget way?

I think your pictures came out GREAT! We had a close friend of ours do our epics and I haven’t seen them yet, but I hope they turn out as good as yours! :)

I think no matter who did them, there would be some you love and some you didn’t. Ours were taken by a professional, and there were some “eh” and some awesome. I think yours look great though! I was the same way, I didn’t like them (of myself) at first, but the more I looked at them, the less critical I got.

You guys are so adorable!!! I love them all! We sorta went the budget route and I wasn’t too excited with how they turned out, but I am critical and I know that is why. We had the second shooter of the studio shoot ours and it was a gamble since she was still learning and wasn’t as experienced.

Our photography package for the wedding came with the engagement session which was very nice. She also had no restrictions on time or places so we got a TON of photos.

Your campus looks very pretty!

thay look great! we are going for a “professional off the clock” one of my students parents (im a teacher) works for a professional company but i told her i cant afford to go through the company and she said she would come hang out with me and glenn for a few hours one weekend and we could do it all then and she would even put it all on a disk. (and not tell her boss!)
