About Mrs. Husky

Somebody to Stand by You

July 20th, 2010 @ 3:36 pm by Mrs. Husky

Let’s talk about the ceremony music, and how we want it to set the tone for our entire celebration. I want our wedding to be a fun and lighthearted celebration, and I didn’t want to have to wait for the reception for that attitude. So I went about my search for a good processional song, and I stumbled upon this:

Okay, it didn’t start out as a search for the processional song. But when I heard the song, and read about the organization, it seemed so fitting.

The song not only applies to us Huskies, but also to everyone we’ve asked to share our wedding with us. We all stand by one another, during good times and bad times. And the way it was produced feels so natural to us as well.

Both Husky and I come from large, eccentric families. Between my retired-hippie father, my computer nerd mother, my country-cowboy stepfather, Mr. Husky’s new-age mother, and mad-scientist father… well, we have quite the assembly of folks that may not otherwise blend well. But with the two of us at the center of it all, the group becomes a beautiful, harmonic collection.

We still need to work out the timing, but I think I’ll probably begin my walk as the choir begins. Or possibly when the saxophone starts. What do you think would be the best moment to “enter”?

Are you choosing a non-traditional processional? What other ways are you creating your ceremony to represent your relationship?

I’m going to walk down the aisle to “It’s Now or Never” by Elvis. ;-) I had originally intended to walk down to “All I Want is You” by U2, which is my favorite song. But I thought it would make me cry, and I don’t want to be too weepy for the ceremony. I thought the Elvis song would be a bit funny and unconventional and I’m looking forward to seeing my guests’ reactions to it.

Great song choice! Traditional or not, what the song means to the couple is all that matters!
