Mrs. Locket's Picture
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
About Mrs. Locket

I suppose that a bride really only needs one white dress, but being a bride gives a gal great reason to find as many cute white dresses as possible. There are so many wedding events that a bride needs to plan for, and what better way can she stand out than with a white dress?

So let’s see: we have the rehearsal dinner, the bridal shower, and the bachelorette party. I know, I know… It isn’t necessary for a bride to wear white to all of these events, but if I look good in white and I can find a cute flattering dress, why not?

So, I started my hunt mid-March and in the first round I was lucky to find one adorable dress appropriate for either the shower or the rehearsal dinner. Surprisingly, my super cute find was from Kohls’ junior’s section. It’s by Speechless and you can find it here (though I don’t think it’s available anymore :( ). I almost didn’t buy it, until I realized it was marked down from $68 to $34, a deal I couldn’t pass up.

I am thinking it will be super cute with a pair of black shoes like either of these:

Sources: lace shoes, ruffled heels

The downside to this trip was that I wasn’t looking for a cute dress… I was on a mission (per MOH, “A”s request) to find a Vegas appropriate white dress for the Bachelorette Party Weekend (oh, I didn’t tell you about this yet did I? YAY VEGAS!). With limited stores in my area offering white dresses, I decided a shopping trip was in line. So I planned a trip and drove an hour to Syracuse to meet up with a friend for a long day of shopping the mall.

For those of you that don’t know, Syracuse has a pretty big mall and a gal could easily spend all day shopping without making it through all the shops. I was certain I would have luck finding something and that is exactly what happened! The best part was that I found the dress in the first store we looked. The downside, I wasn’t convinced at first and spent an additional 5 hours searching through other stores. The dress I found is by Teeze Me (another junior’s dress, WTF!) and I found it in DEB (another big surprise) for $70. I tried to find a pic of this dress on a model and had no luck…the DEB site didn’t have 3rd party dresses posted and other stores that sold this brand didn’t have her posted either.

So, you get to look at me (Yay! cheesy cell-pic):

I love it!! And, I think it will be perfect for Vegas without being too OTT. Just think of how cute I am going to look once it’s all put together with accessories and shoes.

I am thinking bold black or blingy jewelry, like these two pairs of Trifari earrings:

sources: square drop earrings, round cut earrings

Or these cute cuff bracelets by Sonoma:

sources: silver and black cuff, all black cuff

And with some hot shoes:

Okay, I am kidding about those shoes!! I probably would go for something similar to the ruffle ones above or these:

Apt. 9 Tailee Dress Heels

So, what do you think? Will these dresses work for said occasions? Are you wearing white to any of your wedding events?

I have a white dress from Macy’s (Juniors!) for the rehearsal dinner. I bought a yellow and white dress from Macy’s too for the shower, and a satin yellow HOT dress for the bachelorette.

Hadn’t thought about wearing white to other things but I like the idea! I also love buying juniors dresses because they’re so much cheaper than women’s.

I wore white to the rehearsal dinner and BONUS it’s the perfect summer dress and I’ve been wearing it all the time (unlike that other very special white dress that is now hanging in my closet that I can’t think of an appropriate time to wear again…) I say, rock the white!

Cute finds! They both look perfect for the events you plan to wear them too. I am wearing a white dress to my bachelorette party as well.

Cute dresses! The only white dress that I am wearing besides THE white dress is going to be for the rehearsal. It’s really cute and I found it for only $20!
