Mrs. Veggie, Raglan, New Zealand/Scranton, PA Age and Occupation: 27, Director of Small Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 42, PhD Student & Farmer Engagement Date: June 13, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Indian Head Camp, Honesdale Pennsylvania About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.

Why My Sister is Awesome

July 20th, 2010 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Veggie

Why My Sister is Awesome : wedding family scranton Img 554 After a hard day’s work she’s not too tired to come home from her very professional job and walk through her super nice neighborhood with me and rummage through her neighbor’s recycling for tin cans for the centerpieces.

Sure, it might be embarrassing, but what are sisters for? She’s great!

Who is really pulling through for you in your wedding planning process?

That’s awesome that she’s helping you, but heres a word of advice. Make sure you ask the neighbors for permission. I have heard of people being arrested for stealing cans from recycling bins left on the curbs. I guess they claim you are stealing the cities revenue.

However, if you have the neighbors’ permission its all good!

What an awesome sister :) Other than Mr E it has really been my mum and sister who have gone above and beyond in helping us. Thank goodness for them!

I totally take Coke bottle caps (for the CokeRewards points) from garbage cans all the time… Your sister rocks! You should wear gloves if you do it again though, both for germ protection and in case of sharp edges (gardening gloves would work)

My friend, Sharon, totally pulled through for me more than anyone else. I didn’t have a bridal party but she was for sure my honorary maid of honor!

While the treelawn does belong to the city (although the homeowner still pays taxes on it), once garbage is left at the curb it is considered “abandoned property.” Anyone can take it - the law literally takes into account the first “finder”, just as in the age old adage “finders keepers.”

Same reason why police don’t need a search warrant to go through your garbage once it’s put out…its considered abandoned property. :)

Wow! Sisters are the bestest! We’ve had great friends help and plenty of offers, but they’re so far away, we’ve just have done everything ourselves pretty much.

I would be completely lost without my sister.I can’t wait to begin the actual planning/doing process so I can see her awesome MOH skills. She’s so much more girly than I am, so much more organized. She’s going to rock.

That’s one industrious sister you have! If you still need more, try asking a small restaurant, coffeeshop, or somewhere like a church that serves meals if they will set aside cans for you.
