I was recently looking through a bunch of my old photos, and I found a somewhat surprising trend in what I do with my hair. You see, every year (generally right around this time), I seem to make a major change to my hair. It all started my senior year in high school. I had very long hair for most of high school, and by graduation, it looked like this:

That summer, I went on a cruise with Sister Cardy for my senior trip. Before we left for the cruise, I got tired of my insanely long hair, and chopped a bunch of it off. So, my hair looked like this:

Still pretty long, but MUCH shorter!
That hairstyle lasted for about a year, and then over spring break my freshman year in college, I was feeling really adventurous:

The shortest my hair has ever been!
I looooved my short hair. It was fun, and completely different. However, I am lazy, and it required all sorts of maintenance. Needless to say, I had a very hard time keeping up with it (especially in the crazy Texas heat/humidity) and I quickly decided to grow it back out.
By the next year (last year, for those of you keeping up), my hair was long-ish again, and I was feeling bored. Spring break rolled around again, and I decided it was time for a change. So, I dyed it!

And this year, I am engaged. I am at the point where I am totally itching for a crazy change, but we’re getting closer to the wedding and I don’t want to do anything too different. I’m still very happy with my hair color, so that’s not going anywhere, and I know I want to keep my hair long. I feel like I’m at a standstill, because I’m dying to do something drastic to my hair, but I just don’t know what.
So, in order to satiate my need for a change, I decided to get a haircut. Nothing too different, but something to at least make me feel like I’ve made some sort of a change. A mini Pre-Wedding Chop, if you will. ![]()

The photo makes it hard to see the differences, but it’s about three inches shorter in the front, there are a lot more layers, and it looks SO much better! It was starting to look pretty lifeless and boring (as evidenced by the before picture) but it definitely has a new life now, and I think this will tide me over for a while.
No huge change for 2010, but I can promise you I’ll make up for it next year, after the wedding!
Do you change your hair often? Did you decide to put the changes on hold for the wedding, or did you change it anyways?
