Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

To Line or Not to Line?

So, remember this guy?

Well, I had every single intention of using it to create our envelope liners. BUT, after having our invites printed, and deciding on our envelope colors, it seemed crazy to add another color to our invitation mix, let alone another element. And, as you’ll see, we did exactly that. We did not add an envelope liner.

Since our main invite is red (see it peeking out up there?), we wanted it to be the stand-out piece in the bunch. If we added a red, or even an orange envelope liner, the invitation would no longer be the “star” piece. Sure, we could have gone with a brown liner, but that, too, didn’t seem like it would be worth it. I like the fact that by losing the liner, we’re letting the paper goods really speak for themselves.

So, did you ditch any projects during your wedding prep? What was your reason for it?

I was going to do liners too, but we wanted a more simple look and I think it would have taken away not added to our invites. I think it’s the same with yours. I love how your invites stand out!

i fell in love with someones liners on weddingbee. so i decided to do it too!

i cut wrapping paper and glued them on our 150 invites (we only had 1 envelope). however when i sent my first invitation to my future MIL (just to see how it would handle the rugges postal service)…. my FI’s mom just cut it open from the top (not opening the flap to see the liner)…. therefore she did not get a chance to appreciat the hours of work i put into liners!!

so if u dont have time or money, i say ditch the liners bc i dont think half the ppl will see the hours of work i did on my envelopes =(

i think liners would only be a benefit if you have 2 envelopes (one to hold the invitation) and one for the outside for mailing.

ayeee

At least the Cricut can be used for a zillion more wedding-related things! I just got mine a month ago and am already picking up extra blades and cutting mats because I’m pretty sure I’m going to run the current ones to death any second. =)

@Miss Starfish: Thanks! We’re definitely glad we ditched them.

@claire1103: We aren’t really concerned about cost of postage. Our biggest concern was that it would be distracting and too time consuming. If we did line - we would have lined the inner envelope. Guess we’ll have to find another project to use the Cricut for!!

@BelaBBear: This is true - we added belly bands at the last second and the Cricut was a huge time saver.

[...] It’s been in our coat closet since the day I bought it (a year ago—no joke). And, since we scrapped the envelope liners I was at a loss of what we were going to use it for. Especially since I’m not much of a [...]
