We have all heard the little saying, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, and while I have heard that there are actually brides out there that DON’T overthink every single last detail (including those associated with this rhyme), I was just not one of them. I did not just hope they would all come together at the last moment—no, this type A gal obsessed for months until I had the perfect set of little items to bring me luck. Our photographers, Jessica Oriole Salay of Oriole Photography and Jenny McQueen of Capture, were amazing and caught all of these little details for me perfectly. First, something old…

I knew I wanted to carry a rosary on my bouquet pretty early on. I had searched for one that might be a little more special than the old wooden one I have used since my first communion. Then one day while chatting with Nana Cloud, she offered me my Great Grandmother’s silver beaded rosary. It was perfect, and I was honored to carry that piece of my family with me.
My something new could have been a number of things but I was really set on having one special item to call “new”. In the end, I had two new special items (OK four, if we need to be technical here)…

What can I say, I love my shoes. I bought my Nina d’Orsay heels (shout out to Mrs. D’Orsay!) months before the wedding because they were the perfect red color I had been hunting for, and they came in black as well so I thought it would be cute if my ‘maids and I had the same heels. But even a heel-loving girl like myself was not going to make it all day/night teetering on 4”! In the madness that was the week leading up to the wedding, Mama Cloud and I made time for a quick trip to Nordstrom where I found my dancing shoes: super cute red patent leather flats.
Anyone remember this post? Or go back a bit further maybe to this one? Yep, that’s right, I was a lucky little bee and my something borrowed brought some of that bee lovin’ to the altar with me!
Mrs. Tiramisu was generous enough to let me borrow her beautiful bracelet when I kept coming up empty for something to wear. It worked so well with the details of my dress, and the earrings I bought turned out to be by the same designer! Perfect! (In this picture it is sitting on top of the clutch my MOH bought for me at the last minute. I’m nuts and thought I needed it so my Blackberry would be with me during the reception. To be fair, Mr. Cloud was updating his Facebook status from his own Blackberry while he was in the back of the church! Clearly we were made for each other.)
I’m going to have to take back what I said earlier, as my something blue was really left until the last minute. I really wanted a blue cocktail ring to wear on my right hand. I don’t know where this idea originated from, but my desire went to full-blown need and obsession after seeing Mrs. Penguin’s gift from her hubby (what can I say, Weddingbee inspired me a LOT). So I started hinting around to the Mr. that it might make a good gift (and by hinting I mean sending him link’s to Penguin’s recaps, picture messages of rings I liked, and texts with my right hand ring size. I’m a subtle girl).

Mr. Cloud picked out a gorgeous blue topaz ring from a local jeweler which I LOVED. I haven’t worn it since because it is really big and I haven’t had much reason to, but I can’t wait to bring it out on our anniversaries for years to come.
Jessica and Jenny worked so hard to catch all the details that morning, you didn’t think I was going to leave you with just my “somethings” did you? I had to share more of my favorites! First, my fabulous d’orsays (d’orsi? You know what I mean) had a little photo shoot of their own.

My hair flower from Kasia Fink Veils (aka Mrs. Sea Breeze!) posed with a few other accessories.

Last but not least, a little one in a very special pair of shoes of her own.

OK, OK, for real this time, we are putting the dress on next!
