Stamp It Up!

July 23rd, 2010 @ 8:38 am by Mrs. Earrings

I have a thing for rubber craft stamps.

I don’t know if stamping is going a bit out of fashion now, what with all the other things you can do with paper design, but I can’t get enough of it. To me, stamps, especially when embossed, are as timeless as letterpress, but more affordable. Spoiler alert—our invites will feature roses stamped on them and then heat embossed. Oh and lace is involved in some way. (OK, no more spoilers now until the real deal!)

My love for rubber stamps began in childhood when all the ex-patriot families (or at least the mothers and kids) in our town in Indonesia would get together for an afternoon of stamping, card making, and scrapbooking. For the parents I guess it transported them back to their home countries. For the kids, it was just plain fun.

So now that we started the trend for stamping in our wedding, it is time to see what we can do with stamps in other areas of our stationery. And of course, I went to Etsy for inspiration. For all the other stamp lovers out there, I have compiled a list of some of my favourite stamps I have found on Etsy…ones that I am dying to snatch up for various wedding-related projects.

First up, some lovely lacy stamps:

To use on our programmes perhaps? Or how about the one below?

Love this “lace corner” stamp. The possibilities for it on our stationery are endless:

You may know that buttons are already featuring a bit in our wedding (as are many things to do with sewing: fabric, lace, ribbons, etc.). These adorable button stamps below could be perfect to go on our shortbread favor tags:

My mum has a gorgeous teacup stamp in her drawer of useful things that I’m hoping to use, as it will fit in perfectly with some of the “tea party” elements we are including in the day. I don’t have a picture of that one at the moment, but how is this little tea set stamp set for inspiration?:

Finally, a stamp for our thank you cards perhaps? Or we could use it on the other side of the favor tags:

So many stamps, so many choices! How do you feel about stamping?  Are you using them for some of your wedding projects? Which ones above are your favourites?

I am planning on using stamps for as much of my wedding stationary projects as I can. I even am ordering some custom designed stamps. I’ve never stamped or embossed before so I’m hoping all the great tutorials on this site will be my guide!

I love stamps. They’ll be featured in our thank you cards and possibly our escort cards. I think they’re so much fun. especially when you’re slightly DIY challenged like I am!

I love stamps too! I’ve seen some cute ones but I don’t know what I’d do with them. I’ll buy them anyway!

I don’t care if stamps are going out of fashion (and I’m a graphic designer lol) Our whole wedding has stamps lol. Our save the dates were stamped, our return address was/is stamped, we bought a custom made stamp on etsy that I designed and the seller made for me and it came back perfectly! Our favor lags are stamped, luminaries… lol everything. Could I have just printed everything? Sure, but the stamps looks so beautiful! Let me know if you want the seller name for the custom stamp and I can message it to you! Rock on stamps! lol

I spent about ten seconds trying to find paper to wrap favors in before deciding to stamp my own–total wrapping paper control! It was basically three swirly patterns in different sizes, in two kind of sage colors and silver.

Then we took one of those same stamps, did a nice clear imprint of it, scanned it, and printed it on the RSVP envelopes. Could’ve stamped it, yeah, but…lazy!

Later we used that same one in white and silver inks on dark paper to make napkin rings, since we were just renting all white linens.

I think the last place it appeared was on the return address labels for the thank-you notes.

And the killer is, you know there are all gorgeous expensive stamps out there, and I’m pretty sure I got this one for maybe 50 cents.

We used rubber stamps for our RSVP postcards and our reception/map cards! We didn’t do anything fancy like embossing with them, but they fit well with our laidback wedding. I love the ones you posted above, especially the sewing-related stamps.

Oh I am SO excited to have found this thread! yay!!! :) Finally! Well, I say that b/c I haven’t seen enough of the ‘full on DIY’ invitations and such as I was hoping and I was getting nervous for not being able to bounce ideas off others, etc. for how they are doing their wedding day projects.

Though..sigh!..haha. Glad I am found your post here! :)

I’m having a ’spring like’ theme to my day and plan on using bunny & tulip & maybe even a honey bee rubber stamp for a lot of my paper products.

As for your stamps above…really like the ‘lacey hearts’, and any of the peg style stamps (from Nora Jane, if I’m not mistaken ;) are all really adorable.
The heart w. the buttons stamp is a little bit the best of both worlds and yes, that corner lacey stamp is nice too.
Oh, goodness….whichever you pick will go wonderfully! :)

I am hosting a bridal shower for my best friend, and decided instead of buying shower invites (which seem always to be SO super girly) I got blank inside cards and stamps. So the outside has a cute flower thing or whatever, and inside I got a stamp with the “Shower/who/what/when/where/RSVP”. I hope they turn out ok! I spent a ton on those stamps!
