Have you ever been shocked to find out that you don’t have many pictures of you and your fiance together? I had only a handful of recent pictures that were just the two of us that didn’t have my hand in front of the camera taking the photo of us. I really wanted a few nice photos to set up near the entry way table at the wedding. But my photos were not going to cut it! So, I would have to figure out a way to make that happen.
My first line of action was to hit the Weddingbee Classifieds Boards to see if anyone was offering free services for an e-photo shoot.
To my surprise there was—but the posting was a little old—I decided to email and ask if it was available anyways. To my surprise the nicest man emailed me back saying that he would help us out! His name was DC of Coleeffect Photography. On gchat I explained to him that I was hoping to get a fast turn around on the pictures so I could get them printed in time for the wedding. He suggested this Saturday (the next day) so he could get a head start on them before his Sunday shoot with a paying client. So, that meant it would be less than 14 hours to pick out what to wear and get my man on board with the idea! Oh geez!! (Yeah, did I mention that my fiance wasn’t crazy about having pictures taken of him and we canceled on one photographer in April. Maybe the last minute thing would work in my favor, as he had no time to back out!)
I explained to the DC that I was hoping to take photos at Vinero’s in NYC since it was the site of our first date. He was instantly on board with the idea and when we arrived (late) the next morning he was already there (prompt and punctual) and checking out the location for ideas.
Vinero’s opened at 8:00 AM sharp and thankfully all the employees were very sweet and allowed us to take photos in the pastry shop in order to recreate that magical first date. Next DC took us outside so he could shoot with the historic sign in the background. Then we started to walk around the block around Vinero’s. Earlier DC saw a red wall he was excited about so we went there first. Then we headed to the East Side juice bar that had some chairs set up strategically outside. Below are a few of my favorites from the e-session.
I must say, it was a really wonderful experience shooting with DC—as a married man he knew what type of photos we were looking for and with an infectious smile he put me and my fiance at ease. The best part: Mr. Pashmina even enjoyed himself. OMG, right? And he took me out to a lovely breakfast afterwards. My only regret: why did I not put on any makeup? Mascara—the only thing I put on—doesn’t really show up on film. Oh well! Let that be my tip for the wedding day.
I ordered a few of these from iPhoto and they are being shipped as we speak!
