Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

Put on Your Dancin’ Shoes!

July 24th, 2010 @ 3:05 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

I LOVE (love love love!) to dance. It’s one of my favorite things in the world. If you walk by my apartment on a day when I am cleaning, you will often hear two very excited dogs barking at me over the melody of Lady Gaga, because they think I’ve gone crazy with all of my jumping around while I dust. Dancing makes me happy.

But, you know what does NOT make me happy? Sore feet! Dancing in heels is fun, but by the end of the night, it often feels like your shoes are out to get you.

Usually when I’m dancing and my feet start to hurt, I’ll simply kick off my shoes and go at it barefoot. Much less painful! But for the wedding? Somehow the idea of running around our reception in bare feet just doesn’t appeal to me.

All the guys will be wearing Converse for the wedding. Mr. Cardigan hates dress shoes and refuses to dance in them, so I insisted that he get something comfortable. Our junior bridesmaid has also expressed interest in getting some Converse for the wedding too (how cute would she be in her dress and Converse?!) and our flower girl doesn’t care what shoes she’s wearing, as long as they are glittery.

…do you see where I’m going with this?

Pretty much our entire wedding party will be in Converse for the ceremony (my bridesmaids and I will be in heels) and I believe both of my bridesmaids have plans to change into Converse after the ceremony…so I’m gettin’ myself some Converse for the reception! I’ve been a loyal fan of my Chucks for years now, and they’re practically all I wear when I’m not in sandals. I’ve been dying for a pair of gray laceless Converse, and I think my wedding is the perfect excuse to finally break down and buy them! I’ll be able to dance the night away with no pain, and I’ll have some super cute shoes to boot!

Are you changing shoes for your reception? Would you consider wearing Converse to your wedding?

I’m a big heels fan - but I’ll be keeping some of those roll up flats for when it all gets too much!

you really should look into buying a decent pair of dance shoes. look on TicTacToe.com. They have lots of low heeled dance shoes and of course high heeled ones. I do a lot of salsa dancing and its like wearing cotton balls on your feet. After you take them off, your feet will not fell fatigued or hurt. I can never ever dance in anything other than professional dance shoes ever again. Its worth every penny. There is also a store out in LA called Very Fine dance shoes. Look them up on line. THey have a selection of about 100 shoes different colors, with and without glitter and various heel heights.

Any way, the converse concept is cute and i think its the in thing to do right now. Have a great time and wear whatever you will feel comfortable in on your day but definately check the shoes out.

I’m going with suede soled “bridal” shoes by my favorite dance company (who cater exclusively to swing dancers).
I can see my ushers changing into converses (or moccasins more likely with my brother) after the ceremony but they rest will probably change into their regular dance shoes since the rubber sole of dress shoes are only really a good idea for fast lindy, otherwise its murder on your joints.

Hey what’s wrong with wearing chucks? I get picked at all the time because I opt to wear them even to formal occasions. If you don’t wear your chucks, you’ll kick yourself the moment your feet starts to hurt and remember, there is nothing cute about tired, aching feet.

We’re doing Converse for the groomsmen and McGroom, so I’ve also been thinking of switching, but I’m more of a Vans woman. Maybe I’ll just have some Vans instead.

I had a second pair of shoes I bought just for the reception but never even wore them! I ended up kicking off my heels by the very end and going barefoot….and we were outside on concrete but I didn’t care. My feet need that! lol

I’m wearing converse too! I got awesome sparkley ones for the reception! I bought mine at Journeys, I don’t know if they still have them in stores, but they do still sell them online!

I am all for comfortable shoes. People are so much more relaxed and have more fun if they are in comfortable shoes.
