Inspiration

I don’t think we’ll flip flop on our backyard wedding, so it is time to get some concrete ideas going. WE, yes WE, have been discussing colors, feel, and components. Of course, I’d be nothing without the lovely ladies who have come before me in the blogosphere of backyard weddings.

The ever admirable Young House Love, who gave me my very first OMGILOOOOOOOOVE it moment. It was my very first bookmark in my “Wedding Stuff” folder. They’re always an inspiration and proof that a backyard wedding can be fun, classy, and beautiful. And for a total of $3,995? Get it girl!

And of course, A Backyard Wedding. They are so much fun! They had a super rockin’ dance floor and DJ, which we won’t have because my friends are a bit shy, but I think what made this wedding charming for me was the little details like mismatched cups and plates, the sweet flowers in mason jars all around, and the homemade signage.

Wedding blogs of beautiful and DIY savvy backyard brides give me inspiration, so to them I say a big DOMO ARIGATOU! Mr. G and I have a couple things worked out in our heads for the big day. Hey, my mom is a florist, I’m a foodie, and Mr. G is crafty and creative. We’ll make it work!

What makes your wedding cogs turn?

I’m just going to put this out there because I also looked at that Young House Love wedding as major inspiration… Do you think that maybe that wedding wasn’t as great as it was written up to be? I mean, it took place outdoors in the heat of summer without dancing. The photos are pretty, but the guests look a bit bored/ hot.

We had a backyard wedding! We loved “A Backyard Wedding” too.

@kimb9: Our wedding was in the heat of the summer with no dancing. They were hot but not bored :) Take a look: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/daniellemybelle-got-married-recap-with-tons-of-pics

I love John and Sherry (and now Clara) too! Best blog ever, and their wedding was fantastic. I love that they host a wedding week every year to celebrate their anniversary.

@Katie: You truly are an inspiration. I had my reservations about doing our wedding in my parent’s backyard (”it’s not like a real wedding” “will guests think it’s tacky?”) but when I read your blog, I really felt like I could do it! It’s all about the love that goes into it that makes a backyard wedding so great! Thank you!

@daniellemybelle: Your wedding was beautiful! And you looked gorgeous. I love all the details. Thank you for posting a recap, you are an inspiration too!

Everyone else- awesome, right!?
