A Three-Shoed Bride

July 27th, 2010 @ 11:37 am by Mrs. Husky

I am that girl who wears heels every day. This is not a career obligation, nor is it an attempt to make up for a small stature – I am 5’9″ after all. No, I just love heels, and I always have. I’m a pro at walking in them, as I’ve been doing so ever since the sixth grade, when I would stash a pair in my backpack to swap with whatever shoes I wore out of the house. I’ve tried to reform my ways, even going shoe shopping for “practical shoes” to wear in the snow. But somehow, I always end up with more heels. So when we decided to have our wedding outside, my first thought was of my shoes.

I have become very familiar with the act of aerating a lawn – not purposefully, but the moment I step onto a patch of grass, my stiletto sinks right down into the soil. If I were to wear my shoe of choice at our wedding, my graceful walk down the aisle could easily turn into a clumsy stumble. The solution? Wedges.

Done and done. Or so I thought…

Then I found these beauties:

On sale! And while I was browsing the sale section, I stumbled upon these:

I just adore the look of a bride in boots, and as a Texas-born cowgirl at heart, planning a wedding in a barn, how could I not wear a pair of boots beneath my dress?

I really can’t be blamed for my multiple pairs of shoes – this is what happens to a heel-repressed, shoe-obsessed bride. I guess if the weather’s bad, the boots will come on. And maybe the flats at the end of the reception? I love them all!

Did you end up with multiple pairs of shoes for your wedding? How did you decide which pair to wear?

OMG! I wrote a post exactly like this, about how I needed wedges for the grass and all.. Great minds think alike! I do love brides in boots too, but I’ve never been a boots kinda girl myself. Having (getting to buy!) 3 types of shoes sounds like the smart and fun thing to do!

Love those Rocketdog flats! Boots with a wedding dress always looks so cute & country, but I always feel a little clunky in boots & they might be hard to dance in (mostly because they never fit my tiny ankles & calves though). Why not do all 3? - I’m sure your feet will thank you for changing it up throughout the long day! Just make sure you break them all in before the big day~

You should get some solemates so that you can rock out in some heels too!

I was going to buy wedges or flats for the grass, but my dream heels…. pointy grass poking heels… went on sale yesterday so I caved. I hope I make it down the aisle! I like the 1st pair and your boots! Def have 2 on hand that day in case the first pair gets uncomfortable :)

I’m with @alivoo01, you need to get yourself some solemates: http://www.thesolemates.com/how/index.php. I am wearing heels on a very long grass walk for my wedding and they’re awesome! Make it a four-shoe bride - after all, if you wear heels all the time, how will you feel like yourself without them?!?

If you are feeling guilty for 3 pairs of shoes, I will make you feel better….I have 7! I really didn’t intend to have 7. It just kind of happened!
I wanted coloured shoes under my dress but my fiance wanted white so my plans were to have 3 pairs of shoes - Ceremony (white wedges), Reception (coloured heels) and then late night (platform flip flops). The Reception shoes have expanded to multiple pairs because I just can’t decide! I only plan to have 3 at the wedding but I make no promises! ;o)

Um. You guys? How did I not know Solemates existed? I blame you for (probably) turning me into a four-shoed bride.
