After nearly six years with Mr. Handy, we have finally SET A DATE!!!

We were hoping for mid-April because it is out of peak season for Jamaica, and we wanted to go easy on our guests’ wallets. When we arrived in Jamaica back in April, it was deathly hot—too hot for an outdoor wedding. So we decided to bump up the wedding (no complaining from me!). This is how it went down…

Me - OK, since April is obviously out, we need to move it up.

Mr. H - So let’s do Valentine’s Day?

Me - Um…then we can’t use our tax refund, and our guests can’t use theirs either.

Mr. H - OK, so then March.

Me - OK, how about the middle of March?

Mr. H - Three one three!

Me - What’s that?

Mr. H - Our date! It’s on a Sunday, it’s mid-March, and it’s easy for me to remember.

Me - OK, so March 13?

Mr. H - Yeah! Sounds good to me!

Me - OK, then—three one three!

Haha, cute, right?

With 19 months under my belt of being engaged and planning a wedding that I had no idea when was happening, this was by far a very exciting moment! We have a date people!! As soon as we figured out a date, I contacted Etsy seller pinchofspice for our beautiful save-the-date magnets.

I checked the mail every single day until these beauties came in…when I opened the package, my heart sank. They were tiny! I immediately started to tear and feel the anxiety creep up, so I went onto pinchofspice’s website to check to make sure I didn’t read the size wrong…sure enough, they were correct. I thought for some reason they would be 4×6, and the ones I received were the size of business cards. I called Mr. Handy in a panic, and his response was “OK, relax. We’ll get new ones.” My response: “But these are magnets, and despite the size, they’re cute!” So he convinced me to get another save the date card and put the magnets in there as well. So I headed to good ol’ Walmart! And this is what I got…

For only 10 dollars I received 25 4×8 save the dates. Steal! Those puppies were in the mail the next day

We have had so many people compliment the save the dates (both) and our beautiful pictures. My mom even called me in tears to tell me that she received hers and how beautiful I am and how proud she is of me. Feels so real now that we actually set a date and the ball is a rollin’!
