I know that the “something old, something new, etc.” tradition is referring to the bride’s get-up, but somehow it looks like our wedding is slowly acquiring things that fit the tradition as well. I already told you about our something blue for the day, now let me tell you about our “something old”:
Otherwise known as the cake topper from the day Mr E’s parents got married back in the ’80s.
FMIL will be carrying it all the way from California to NZ in her carry-on luggage. Yep, the figurines don’t particularly look like us (well, the guy looks like Mr E if he had really short hair, but I don’t have reddish hair, I’m waaay shorter than Mr E than that, and my dress is nothing like the girl’s dress), BUT they’re cute and the cake topper is an heirloom from Mr E’s family and that is important to us. It meant a lot when Mr E’s mum brought it up and asked if we wanted to use it.
Next to a can of peaches so I could judge the size

… and a back view
As you might be able to tell from the can of peaches shot, this cake topper is fairly large as cake toppers go. And you may know from one of my previous posts about our cake that it won’t be large enough to support a topper that size. Hence, this is why the topper will go in front of/next to the cake on our dessert table, which will take pride of place in the middle of all the cupcakes.
Are you incorporating something from your parents’ or future in laws’ wedding in your day?
