Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

Hair Decisions

July 29th, 2010 @ 8:44 am by Mrs. Cardigan

I’m so proud of myself. I finally made a decision about my hair! If you’ll remember, I was having a hard time deciding what to do with my hair for the wedding. But y’all are pretty amazing and really helped me out on making my decision. After reading through all the comments, it was pretty obvious that the favorite was the gorgeous Serena Van Der Woodsen style from Gossip Girl!

I was really excited when I finally chose to use this hairstyle, partially because I love it, and partially because it officially resolves my “hair flower vs. headband” debate!

So, with a hairstyle in mind, it was time to book a hair trial! I really wanted to get it done before student teaching starts next month, so this afternoon Mr. Cardigan and I loaded ourselves up in the car and drove to Austin for my trial with Angela from LucieMarie.

And… I love it! Angela did such a great job and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. First, the “before” photo:

And the after! (Sorry, the lighting is kind of wonky!)

(There’s a random hair out of place here, but it was kind of windy outside, so I’m sure that caused it!)

I really really love how it turned out! It’s hard to see in the photo, but Angela put a few random braids throughout it, and I think they added a lot! I didn’t get to try it with the headband that I’ll be wearing (because the post office hates me), but I promise I’ll share that with you as soon as I get it!

The style seems to have pretty good staying power too—it lasted through lunch at Chuy’s, the ride home (which included a Dashboard Confessional dance party! :) ), and it still looks great! A few pieces have been falling out, because I made the mistake of washing my hair yesterday afternoon, which made it really hard to work with. My hair does much better when it has a good 24 hours of getting dirty before you try to do anything with it!

So, that’s my hair trial! I’m so glad that I chose to go with this hairstyle, and I think it will look perfect with my dress!

What do you think? Did you have a hair trial before the wedding?

That is probably the most accurate “inspiration to reality” hair trial I’ve ever seen. It looks JUST like the photo.

I really like it. It’s so unfussy and romantic.

It looks awesome!!! :) I really loved that hairstyle, too…but unfortch, I couldn’t find a headband (and had already purchased THREE different hair flowers) so I went a different route. Super cute!
