Mrs. Lobster's Picture
Mrs. Lobster, Brooklyn Age and Occupation: 29, Finance Girl Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance Boy Engagement Date: July 25, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Stage 6 Steiner Studios About Me: I'm a New York-born, Virginia-bred girl who's found her way back to the big city. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
About Mrs. Lobster

Feed Me.

July 30th, 2010 @ 3:39 pm by Mrs. Lobster

Recently, we received our venue’s wedding menu packet in the mail. I was out of town at the time but when I came home, I saw that Mr. Lobster had gone through the entire menu and ticked off his likes (checks) and dislikes (big slashes). Ohhh, so *now* you want be all involved, do you, Mr. Lobster?

Food Time

After much deliberation (and trading “I’ll give you a grilled cheese for a shrimp cocktail. Done.”), this is what we’ve come up with:

Cocktail Hour (i.e. your reward for sitting quietly through the ceremony)

  • Tiny Sirloin Patty Melts – love child of burger and grilled cheese
  • Seafood Fortune Cookies – Surprise! Your lucky number is “seafood”
  • Mac & Cheese BBQ Chicken – no need for forking this baby stands on its own
  • Blanketed Frank Lollipops – pigs in blanks on sticks
  • Portobello Mushroom Steak Fries – for the vegetarians who like it fried
  • Watermelon Domino – refreshingly dotted with balsamic vinegar and gorgonzola cheese
  • Baja Fish Taco – fish… taco
  • Nuevo Sushi – fancy sushi
  • Americana Carving Station – we chop ’em and serve ’em, pork, duck, salmon
  • Wild Mushroom Station – among mushroomy things there’s mini ’shroom pizza and Parmigiano crisps!!
  • Classic Seafood Bar – if I don’t have it I might get disowned by my seafood loving family

Since my venue does not do food tastings, I don’t have tasting photos (no worries). But here are some of the items on featured in their food pics. Super. Drool.

The Main Event (shouldn’t you should be full by now? you people are so demanding.)

  • Summer Duo of Lobster & Corn – This is a Lobster wedding, isn’t it?
  • Arugula Salad – a salad is a salad. but there’s cheese.
  • Beef Two Ways – we’re really into pairs/twins/duos
  • (or) Truffled Chilean Sea Bass – gimme that filet o’fish, gimme that fish! what would you do if you were up on this wall. If it were you in that sandwich you wouldn’t be laughing at all!
  • Warm S’mores Truffle Tart – slightly charred marshmallow peaks on a chocolate tart with a graham cracker crust!!!!! It’s like summer camp on a plate.

Wedding Cake (keep eating or else!)

  • Yellow Cake with Blood Orange Curd and French Vanilla Buttercream – boo ya

I’m getting stomach grumbles from writing this. It’s time for some snacks.

What is your favorite thing on your wedding menu? Do you have a must have or a wish list dish?

Sweet MOTHER I’d be jazzed about this menu if I was you. (And your cake flavor sounds like it’s to die for!)

I was married at Tappan Hill in June and had quite a few of those items on our menu. I promise you won’t be disappointed!!! People are still talking about the summer duo almost two months later!

It is entirely your fault that I am now singing (in the loosest definition of the word) that McDonald’s commercial song. I’ll likely be doing it for days.

Num, num, num. I’m looking forward to some mini turkey finger sandwiches with cranberry relish. It’s like Thanksgiving . . . in a mini sandwich!

Are you guys having a vegetarian option? I am just curious since I have been looked at as rude before at weddings when i didn’t eat either the fish or the meat, but it was because I don’t eat either. You may not have any vegetarian guests, but just thought I’d throw it out there. It all sounds yummy!

Yum – abigail kirsch does an amazing job! And their lobster and corn salad is amazing – we had it a corporate event I just did at the Lighthouse at Chelsea piers. And I was so impressed with their silent vegetarian option – a really lovely warm veggie “lasagna” (more like layered summer veggies). Delish!

If for whatever reason you have a minumum and you can’t reach it, I am THERE. Seriously. I’ll bring you a great gift. Think about it.

@coloradobride: Thanks for asking! We do have a silent vegetarian option and I’m letting my vege friends know ahead of time via word of mouth. Actually the vegetarian options sound delicious and I wouldn’t mind having a taste myself!
