No Sugar Plums Here

July 30th, 2010 @ 6:33 pm by Mrs. Veggie

T minus one month till the wedding and I’m having some pretty weird wedding-related dreams. OK, maybe they’re more like wedding nightmares.

No Sugar Plums Here : wedding emotional scranton 111 111

Want to know how you can tell this is a dream? 1) That is the kind of perkiness you can only get in dreams. I mean let’s be serious, my boobs haven’t looked like that since 10th grade ever. 2) There is a giant dream bubble above my head.

Two nights ago I dreamed that I picked up my dress from the cleaners and while it definitely was the dress that belonged to me, it was a totally different dress than the one I have and didn’t fit at all. It was a halter dress and was so big that pretty much my entire boobs were showing. This is a ridiculous and impossible dream for many reasons. First, I already have my dress back from the cleaners and have tried it on repeatedly. And second, there is definitely not a possibility that it will be too big. American snack foods are doing their part to ensure quite the opposite in fact.

Then two nights ago I dreamed that I had to get a haircut, which is true. But somehow, my sister was the stylist and she cut my hair into a chin length bob. All I kept saying was, “maybe it will grow out again before the wedding.”

I wish I would just have really wackadoo nightmares because these ones were just realistic enough that when I woke up in the morning I thought, ‘Man, I really need to find someone to alter my dress soon,’ and then again the next day, ‘What am I going to do about my hair?’

Last night I was dream-free. Thank goodness.

I can’t be the only one having weird wedding dreams. Come on, let’s hear them!

My fiance had a dream that he and I got married to another couple, as in, 4 of us got married. It was funny that he had a wedding dream!

My wedding dreams used to be that it was the big day and none of the projects were done - the tables were empty, no decorations on the aisle, etc. Now, in my dreams, all the projects are done, but I didn’t ship any of them to my hometown. I wake up much more upset in the latter dreams, since the projects took so long and nobody got to see them! :-)

I’m my wedding dreams include the following:

Hideous flowers and no vases

I handed out gummy worms as favors

My guests ate and left before the ceremony

Latecomers blocked the aisle so I can’t get down it

My hair flower fell apart as I tried to put it in

We didn’t have rings and had to use twisty ties

Martha Stewart showed up with an enormous bottle of champagne

Your wedding will be wonderful, the dreams just mean you’re thinking about it a lot!

About a month before the wedding, I dreamed that we’d relinquished our date at our venue (because I hadn’t ordered flowers yet). And when we changed our mind, the soonest date we could get was the Monday of Columbus Day weekend. I was so upset! I didn’t want to wait that long!

I was so relieved when I woke up. And I called the florist that day to finalize things. :)

I love that you used the word “wackadoo”. I say that often, as well as “wackadoodle” and get made fun of all the time. LOL

I keep having dreams that I get my hair cut chin length as well, and say “it’ll grow out by November”. Definitely not something I’m doing! I think my hair is trying to sabotage me…. it’s never been this long, and I don’t think it likes it! I’ve definitely been having my share of wedding dreams.. thankfully I just laugh at them and share them with my FI afterwards.

I had a dream that my BMs danced down the aisle to “Baby Got Back” so my Priest (The late Pope John Paul II, naturally) cancelled the ceremony. I woke up incredibly angry at my sisters and FSIL.

I had another dream that we had to have our wedding in my grade school cafeteria and there was no food or liquor so I ran home to raid the cupboards.

My wedding is like 11 months away, I hope this isn’t going to continue the WHOLE time. :)

hahahaha omg veggie your dream bubble is amazing!! I had a dream that I forgot to wear a strapless bra with my strapless dress, and halfway down the aisle, I yelled out to my guests “Does anyone have a strapless bra I could borrow???” OMG and that’s just the beginning…I rarely have a night without a wedding nightmare!

This is probably TMI, but about a month ago, I had a dream that I woke up late on the morning of the wedding, 3 hours after my hairdresser was supposed to meet me at my hotel. To make matters worse, I wasn’t even at the hotel - I was at my parents’ house. So my mom offered to do my hair and make-up (oh joy)…but when I went to put on my dress, there was blood all over it! I realized that my teeth were falling out and the blood was dripping onto my dress. So then my mom was trying to wash the blood out of the dress in the bathroom sink, but the stain was just getting bigger. I woke up in a panic, and there really was blood in my mouth. The best explanation that anyone could come up with was that I was so stressed out that I was grinding my teeth in my sleep to the point where they started to bleed. That’s when I had to take a step back from wedding planning and try to relax a bit more.

i had one where it was the day of the wedding and i was getting married in a bright orange veil. i was so sad! i didn’t want an orange veil! but i didn’t feel like i could fix it or ask for help to fix it because i would be coming across as too demanding. so i got married in an orange veil. and the final song to the reception was “(i’ve had) the time of my life.” which is an ok song don’t get me wrong but not one i want to end the night with!

I have them every couple of months, but I haven’t had any recently. They do get pretty bizarre, though! haha.

Ok Im down to two weeks to go so my crazy wedding dreams seem to be occuring nightly now! The latest was that I was totally way past late for when I was supposed to be getting ready, and instead of being at the resort I was in a store looking for last minute items–then I looked at the clock and realized it was 4pm-the time the wedding starts-but it was dark outside! So then I freaked and decided I had to buy twinkle lights to make sure everyone could see the ceremony.

The one before that was that I ran into FI while I was doing last minute decorations right before the wedding and I broke down in tears because I thought our marriage was doomed because of some silly superstition….

But-I’m not the only one that has wedding on the brain–FI said he dreamt that I was walking down the aisle and stopped halfway-freaked out, said I couldn’t do it and basically had a mental breakdown right there LOL

Geez–it’s like the summer before starting high school all over again-dreaming about not having school supplies and having the other kids be mean to ya!

Some great dreams here! I had one last week that there was something really important that I didn’t have the money to pay for. However, my aunt gave my uncle a LOT of money to buy decorations for everyone’s car tires. “because everyone’s cars should look festive for the wedding”

I realized my dream was trying to tell me that I wasnt orginized so I decided I better get organized, I got organized and havent had a repeat of that dream, anyways.

At least you had a dress in your nightmares!! In mine we couldn’t find it anywhere and it was time for me to walk down the aisle.

I had them more in the begining of when we got engaged. One I remember was that all of a sudden it was the day of the wedding and NOTHING was how I wanted it. I kept thinking “Who MADE all these choices!!?”
