Like many gals, I have a minor obsession with shoes and am constantly drawn in by their cutesy, frilly, and oh-so-pretty qualities. Believe me, if I could I would fill my closet with as many jeweled, heeled, and satin pretties as possible, but I have a very unfortunate problem. I am not one of those gals that can try on every pretty shoe and have it fit, and I often feel like the ugly step-sister from Cinderella with the big toes and huge feet.

My feet aren’t huge and gangly, but they are a tad wide and I often have trouble finding pretty shoes that fit. Sneakers are a breeze and flip flops a snap, but when it comes to peep-toed heels and fancy pumps, I run into problems.
The trouble is that I am a size eight and a half, and not all dressy shoes in that size are made for someone with slightly wider than average footsies. I often need to go up a size to find a shoe that will accommodate my duck feet, and this doesn’t always work. The alternative is to search for a wide shoe. You would think it an easy task, but the problem is that wide shoes often look like they were meant for grandma and not for a gal trying to take some fashion-forward steps.
So what was I to do come wedding day? I wanted purple shoes with a touch of bling, but all the pretties I could find came in ill-fitting styles. I decided to do some searching for wide bridal shoes and up popped David’s Bridal. I was surprised to find that they offered some styles in my vision that could be dyed the pretty purple I yearned for.
Check them out:
David’s Bridal, Shellie (shown in plum):

David’s Bridal, Makenzie (shown in white, would be dyed purple):

David’s Bridal, Paige (shown in white, would be dyed purple):

David’s Bridal, Martina (shown in Lapis):

At this point the Makenzie and Martina are my favorites, but I really like the idea of the Paige for when my footsies get tired. I am hoping to take a trip over to DB pretty soon to check out my options and see how well fitted my feet will be in these possible godsends. Until then, I am searching the Internet for other options of the wide variety and pushing my feet into any purple shoes I find as I browse every store’s shoe section.
Did you have an easy time finding shoes for your big day? Was fit an issue for you? Or was it the style? Do you have any suggestions for wide, pretty shoes?
