Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HIAge and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerEngagement Date: June 27, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, HonoluluAbout Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
I’m talking of that super un-fun stuff called paperwork.
*Yawn*
Regardless of the boring-factor however, the paperwork is pretty important. And since I’m in the mood for pretending to be organized, I thought I’d share my arsenal for conquering the wedding week. Read more…
Mrs. Sand Dollar, HoustonAge and Occupation: 24, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical TechnicianEngagement Date: January 8, 2010Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: MacLean ParkAbout Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
Many brides like to prepare for their marriages by attending premarital counseling. Luckily for you Texas gals, there’s another option to consider: a Premarital Workshop provided by the TwoGether in Texas program. It’s 8 hours, usually done over two weeknights or on a Saturday, with lunch and cake. You learn about anger management, conflict resolution, financial styles and other big relationship hot button issues. The point of the workshop isn’t about counseling you through your individual problems, it’s about equipping you as a couple to have the best skill set available when you do face tough times in your marriage (or engagement). Miss Handbag, Smyrna, DE/JamaicaAge and Occupation: 25, AdministrationFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, SalesEngagement Date: Christmas Night 2008Wedding Date: March 2011Venue: Rosehall Resort, Montego Bay, JamaicaAbout Me: I am a Type A, emotional Italian fireball, who on a weekly basis must be brought back to reality by my level headed, calm, cool and collected fiance. We are planning an intimate, all white with hints of black, vintage inspired wedding on the old sugar aqueducts of Jamaica, with 30 of our closest friends and family flying in to witness the occasion. We are not traditional by any means and will be doing things very differently. :)
I have 2 brothers, both are in the military. I am the only sibling that lives in the same state as my mother. My brothers and I are very close. We email, text, and Blackberry messenger almost every day. When they are deployed, it’s lots of sleepless nights and nightmares. My little brother who is currently in Afghanistan, brought up the wedding and was curious about the plans so far. (I just love him!) He asked me who was walking me down the aisle?
It was a good question, as I have no idea! I never really thought about it. We then moved on to the subject of the whole reason and history behind who walks you down the aisle.
To me, the person that walks you down the aisle should be someone who raised you, someone who helped mold you into the person you are today and is passing you along to the one who will continue to do that until death do you part.
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San DiegoAge and Occupation: 28, ProfessorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, InstructorEngagement Date: December 20, 2008Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood RestaurantAbout Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
Where did all the freaking time go? The Hot Wings are just under 30 days until the big Wedding Soiree! EEK! What the heck happened? We had a long 22 month engagement. I should be done with all this planning, right? Nope. The to-do list went insane once we hit the 1 month mark. What the to-do list did not prepare me for was the irrational fears and horrid dreams that would start with 1 month to go.
Here’s the most irrational of them all.
I have a facial feature called the gummy smile. Ever heard of it? If you haven’t, you have probably seen it and have not known what to call it or that it even needed to be labeled.
Mrs. Cardigan, AustinAge and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems AnalystEngagement Date: August 16, 2009Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Vintage VillasAbout Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
I don’t know whether or not I’ve mentioned this, but we’ll be having a “fauxtobooth” at our wedding. Our photographer is taking care of it, and I’m very, very excited about it!
The only problem? It means we have one more decision to make. I’ve been going back and forth on this decision for weeks, and I’m just not making any progress with it. What’s the decision, you ask?
Well, we need to decide if we want to leave the backdrop plain (aka the free option):
Mrs. Husky, DenverAge and Occupation: 26, Systems AdministratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid offEngagement Date: August 14, 2009Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Rancho San CarlosAbout Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
Husky and I were looking for a different spin on the unity candle. Our ceremony site is in the middle of a field in an area that is perpetually in a state of drought. Fire seems like a bad call. We had heard about the Sand Ceremony, but they make me think of the sand creatures that you could pay to create at the local street festival. Inevitably, mine would tip over and the colors of the sand would bleed together…
I started hearing murmurs of a Wooden Box ceremony, and I was intrigued. Read more…
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force PilotEngagement Date: February 21, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill WineryAbout Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
My 27th birthday is tomorrow. If you know me, you know that I love birthdays and make a huge deal about mine every year. But this year is different. To be honest, I haven’t given my birthday much thought - in fact, I completely forgot about it until last week, when Mr. Jelly brought it up. “Oh, that. I almost forgot about that,” was my response. Oh, the things studying for the Bar exam will do to you! I’m really looking forward to getting my life back (and starting to blog again!) in only a few short days.
Anyway, now that I think about it—27 is a weird and special birthday for me. For starters, ever since I was little I always imagined that I would get married at age 27. Somehow, it just seemed like a nice age to get married. And although I was technically married at 26, it’s pretty cool that my lifelong prediction of marriage at 27—or at least the wedding at 27—is coming true.
Another thought that keeps going through my head is how at age 27, Mama Jelly had already been married for 6 years, had already had her first child, and had me on the way. Read more…

My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
Ms Seahorse, BostonAge and Occupation: 25, Veterinary Jane-of-all-tradesFiancee's Age and Occupation: 36, former non-profit fundraiser in search of something betterEngagement Date: October 17, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Fort Pond LodgeAbout Me: By day I'm a cat-wrangler, vet tech assistant, pet-sitter, receptionist, and pre-vet student, but the rest of the time, I'm a former-roller-derby girl turned dedicated-wedding planner. I love reading, writing, bicycles, animals, roller skating, and antique-y things of all sorts. I'm a vegetarian who likes spicy foods, while Fiancee Seahorse is a meat eater who does not like spices. We live outside Boston with our menagerie: a fifty pound dog, a one-eyed, seventeen-toed, toothless cat, and a perfectly put together cat who has a penchant for pooping near rather than in her litter box. In addition to planning our small lake-side wedding, we enjoy running around with the puppy, playing board games (Scrabble, anyone?), having little adventures, talking about how we should really clean the house more, and maintaining our little garden of vegetables and wedding flowers.
I suppose now that I’ve declared myself “back”, I should act as though I’m back. I’ve decided that once you convince more than four people to read your blog, it’s sort of your responsibility to give them something to read.
oh, uh, hey there, readers. come here often?

Mr. SD is in a dangerous line of work. He works with high-voltage electricity plants. They’re forbidden to wear jewelry of any kind, especially necklaces and rings, for their conductive properties. Even wood is forbidden, so there goes even that option. So, what do we do? We’ve discussed getting him a token ring he can wear when he’s not at work. If we do, it won’t exactly be an investment piece. We’re thinking something like this.
Mrs. Knitting, TorontoAge and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD CandidateEngagement Date: October 2009Wedding Date: December 2010Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club
About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.
Calling all Toronto and GTA bees. We’re having a meet up on July 28th at 7PM at Hemingway’s and we’d love to see you all there!
If you’d like to join us for drinks, snacks (mmm sweet potato fries), and of course lots of wedding talk, RSVP here.

About Me: When my best friend dragged me to a toga party in our freshmen year of college, I was not expecting to meet my future husband; but seven years later, here we are. I'm a crazy-organized planner at heart, and I am a great lover of random trivia, books, chocolate, blogs, new and exciting adventures, mockumentary-style television, and anything heavily flavored with bright orange fake cheese powder. We're planning a festive and fun mini-destination wedding in the place where we met: fabulous Pittsburgh, PA! I can't wait to marry the man I love!
I showed you the outsides of the Octopi wedding invitations, and now I’m excited to show you the pretty stuff inside! Here’s the back of the envelope again, complete with an expertly-executed return address stamp, courtesy of Mr. O:

In case you didn’t know, I am OBSESSED with anything vintage, wedding, and DIY. I love incorporating the old with the new. I love lace dresses and vintage picture frames.
So when it came time for our theme and colors, it was a no-brainer! We are having a vintage, black and white wedding. And Mr. Handy is actually excited and into the wedding planning. He wants to have a say in EVERY detail and especially the food (of course!). So when it came time for where to get married, we both agreed on a destination wedding. Neither of us have been to Jamaica (I have never even been out of the country!) so we started looking into resorts in Montego Bay (mainly because it’s 10 minutes from the airport, haha). Then we came across…
