About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.
Like many of you I’m using my wedding as motivation to get into fantastic shape and I’m going to share with you how I plan to do this. In general I eat pretty well (mostly plant based food) and I have a relatively active lifestyle since I walk everywhere (yay for downtown Toronto) and occasionally make it to the gym before work in the mornings. However, I do have some plans to kick this up a notch leading up to the wedding.
One of the ways I plan to do this involves my passport.

What can I say about Erin? She (and her crew) have become more like friends than vendors. Nearly ALL my other vendors were recommended by her - and none let me down.

My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
… and keeping everyone happy. When it came to choosing their bridesmaids’ dresses I gave my girls free rein with slight limitations. I didn’t want them to feel that they didn’t have a choice, but I didn’t want the styles to be all over the place and in mixed colors.
In my initial BM dress shopping with MOH Amy, we found a style she liked in the Bill Levkoff collection. A few days later lil’ sis tried on the same dress and hated it… this is what really cemented the idea of having different dresses into my brain. Read more…

I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
… friends and family converged in Seattle united by Pretzel love. The ceremony music was lovingly performed by friends and family and the Mass brought a tears of joy from friends and family alike. There was yummy beer and (of course) a wide assortment of pretzels. We rocked hard and our legs were weary from dancing. Most importantly, at the end of the day there was…

I recently attended my girlfriend Lauren’s bridal shower in Fresno where good times were had by all. Cristina, the Maid of Honor, had one game that I found particularly genius that I had to share with the hive! But before we get to that, check out the cake that Cristina made at home for the shower. It was incredible!!!

Mrs. Sand Dollar, HoustonAge and Occupation: 24, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical TechnicianEngagement Date: January 8, 2010Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: MacLean ParkAbout Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
This is going to be a really hard post for me to write. I apologize in advance; it’s probably going to be on the longer side, but I want to make sure to cover all the bases. To begin, I have another confession.
This ain’t my first rodeo. You see, I had a wedding before. In fact, you can see it here, on Weddingbee. I’ll hit it from the top. I met my ex the week before college classes began. He was my first real love, and we dated for three and a half years before we had a wedding. My parents hated him. My friends hated him. The only person who ever spoke up was my mother, and every daughter knows your mom doesn’t know anything anyway. So I never listened. In the beginning, things were fine. He was a bit controlling, yes, and slightly critical. But signs weren’t blatant that things would turn sour. He would say things like, “Those jeans make your ass look flabby,” or “You shouldn’t move your arms like that, they jiggle really bad.” Underhanded criticisms that aren’t explicitly bad, since it’s just the jeans and the motion, right? Not me.
Mrs. Hermit Crab, New York, NYAge and Occupation: 24, Youth Director soon to be Grad StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Medical Student - soon to be Surgery ResidentEngagement Date: October 11, 2008Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: New York Botanical GardenAbout Me: I love all things food, books, our furbaby, Rashi, and adventures with my amazing fiance (oh, and saving the world!). This summer I will not only be a bride, but a bridesmaid, officiant, and attendee as well---it's all about weddings in my life right now, full of so many exciting moments and projects. We're planning a fab New York City wedding weekend full of family, love and lots of color!
A little bit of rain and a nearly impossible to find restaurant didn’t keep away these bees (and one very good sport Mr.)! We met at the 79th Street Boat Basin for drinks, onion rings and other light fare to talk weddings and life in general! It was a great time and we’re looking forward to another bee neet up soon!
(So, I brought my camera, but the battery died! Cousin F came to the rescue with her iPhone but there were technical difficulties - we did the best we could. )
Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HIAge and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerEngagement Date: June 27, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, HonoluluAbout Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
A common question, and one I asked myself many times throughout this engagement, is how does one get all those decorations and DIY projects to her destination wedding?
First, the post office. Here’s my tips and thoughts on the United States Postal Service:
Mrs. Argyle, St. LouisAge and Occupation: 24, Project CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, PilotEngagement Date: February 15, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on WashingtonAbout Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
Well, I had every single intention of using it to create our envelope liners. BUT, after having our invites printed, and deciding on our envelope colors, it seemed crazy to add another color to our invitation mix, let alone another element. And, as you’ll see, we did exactly that. We did not add an envelope liner.
Mrs. Mouse, AustinAge and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil EngineerEngagement Date: December 19, 2007Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Barr MansionAbout Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
Hey there, hive! It’s been awhile. I thought I’d drop in to tell you guys a story that I was previously too embarrassed to share. It’s the story of how I forgot to invite someone to my wedding.
You see, I have this friend. We’ll just call her Elle. Although if she’s reading this post, I’m sure she knows who she is. Elle and her husband were on our guest list from the beginning. I met her in law school, and we hung out occasionally and took a couple classes together. She and her husband invited the Dude and me to their wedding, which was about a year before ours—we went and had a blast. Even though we weren’t exactly attached at the hip, I knew that I wanted Elle and her husband at our wedding, so we added them to our guest list, a spreadsheet I had created on my computer in Excel.
Cut to April of 2009, about five months before our wedding (and right before I started blogging for Weddingbee!). The Dude and I were at work one day, when some burglars broke into our house. They took everything: the Dude’s expensive music equipment, my grandmother’s jewelry, our recently purchased wedding bands, and YES, my laptop. Read more…
Mrs. Husky, DenverAge and Occupation: 26, Systems AdministratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid offEngagement Date: August 14, 2009Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Rancho San CarlosAbout Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
As I’m sure you all know by now, the Husky wedding will be anything but conventional. Between our hippo-topped cake and our offbeat processional, I think it’s clear to most involved that we have no intention of abiding by many wedding traditions.
There are, however, a very important couple of exceptions.

Mrs. Cardigan, AustinAge and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems AnalystEngagement Date: August 16, 2009Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Vintage VillasAbout Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
It’s weird, it’s hard to pronounce, and I always have to repeat it about 15 times when I meet someone new. No one EVER spells it right, and the only people who aren’t completely confused by it tend to pronounce it with the traditional (correct) German pronunciation, which isn’t how we actually pronounce it, so I have to correct them anyways.
It’s annoying, and after almost 22 years of dealing with it, I am so over it.
There was never any question in my mind whether or not I would be changing my name once Mr. Cardigan and I got married. His last name is easy to pronounce, easy to spell, and not at all confusing. And you know what? I’m really freaking excited about it. I love that I will share a last name with my husband and my future (really, really far in the future) children. I love that our (did I mention way far in the future?) children will have a last name that doesn’t make people go, “how the hell do you pronounce that?!” I love that sharing a last name with my family will make me feel more connected to them, more unified. I can’t wait. Read more…

In my last STD post I told you about how much fun I had trimming and rounding my magnets and I hinted at how they would look as a finished product. Today I will show you the real final product (because you know I always change my mind) and clue you in on all the fun details of how I got there.
PART I:
First off, I knew I wanted our magnets mounted to something purple and a little bit fancy. I didn’t so much feel like driving to the store to start my trials so I went to my crafting closet (aka our guest bedroom) and took inventory.
I found this:
