Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CA
Age and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and Promotions
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior Designer
Engagement Date: March 5, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA
About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
Now that we discussed how to pee in your wedding dress, lets talk about a minor regret I have about our wedding: we didn’t do a signature drink. We just couldn’t think of a really special drink, and it got pushed to the wayside for more important projects. But oh, if only we had found out about this sooner in the planning process!
One of my bridesmaids gifted me something amazing a couple of days before our wedding—edible hibiscus flowers from Australia.

Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis
Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot
Engagement Date: February 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington
About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
I’ve had our invitations back from the printer since before the July 4th holiday. And, let me tell you, I swear they’ve been staring at me the entire time. I had them printed pretty quickly, so we were just waiting on our map to finish printing and for our envelopes to finish being calligraphed. The second those last two pieces arrived, I immediately started assembling them. I had a goal to get them out by the third full week in July, and I was doing everything possible to make it happen (side note: So, it is the third week, and they have yet to go out. We’re aiming for a Thursday drop).
Me assembling invites (Not quite the fan of this one, but Mr. A insists it shows “personality”. I’m not sure I agree).

Mrs. Cardigan, Austin
Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst
Engagement Date: August 16, 2009
Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Vintage Villas
About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
I was recently looking through a bunch of my old photos, and I found a somewhat surprising trend in what I do with my hair. You see, every year (generally right around this time), I seem to make a major change to my hair. It all started my senior year in high school. I had very long hair for most of high school, and by graduation, it looked like this:

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Engagement Date: June 28, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception
About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
With my family and bridesmaids in place in the bridal suite, it was time for me to become a bride.

I had hung up my dress before we left to go to the hair salon. When we returned, she just seemed to beam in the gorgeous light filling the room.

Mrs. Husky, Denver
Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Administrator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid off
Engagement Date: August 14, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: Rancho San Carlos
About Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
We decided to self-cater!

(source)
It’s really only half as crazy as it sounds. To be clear, by “self-catering” I do not mean that Mr. Husky and I will be cooking in our suit & gown, simply that we will have a group of willing chefs to cook & serve.
Our wedding will take place in a very small town, meaning there are no local catering options. There is a big-ish city about 20 minutes away, but it’s not exactly known for its cuisine.

Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston
Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician
Engagement Date: January 8, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: MacLean Park
About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!

Wedding crafting seems to have taken over my life, especially when I plan out a simple task, and Mr. Sand Dollar has to go and add five steps to make it more difficult. Original plan: glue invites to backer paper. Mr. SD’s plan: sew them on! Original Plan: put tealights in mason jars. Mr. SD’s plan: melt wax and add wicks to make them into candles!

Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY
Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law
Engagement Date: June 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Heron Hill Winery
About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
Any wedding-blog-savvy bride knows that branches as centerpieces in weddings are hot stuff right now. I don’t really care so much about the trend factor as I do the fact that them being popular means they may not be as unique as I would like.
Manzanita branches may not ring a bell to anyone else, but in wedding world, manzanita are part of bridal vocab. These are the top branch contenders featured in centerpieces. Dripping with crystals, delicately hung votives and ornately decorated with flowers, these babies know how to make a statement. So why my concern and pending debate? Well, I worry that they have been overdone and that using them pulls me into the trend making my wedding less unique than the next. (That and a friend used branches in her centerpieces last fall.) To try to avoid this and to give our wedding its own identity I have thought long and hard about other possibilities. In come another option…

Mrs. Seashell, Chicago, IL / Providence, RI
Age and Occupation: 28, Marriage and Family Therapist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: September 3, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: The Glen Manor House
About Me: Fonts and fashion, stationery and Sundays, photography and french toast... the beauty is in the details for this fun-loving Chicagoan who loves to plan plan plan! The soon-to-be hubs plays "Mr. Fix-It" in our new condo while I swoon over beautiful, personalized stationery and choose shades of aubergine for my bridesmaids' dresses... and thus begins my new fairy tale! Skirting to the East Coast for our September nuptials where my home state of Rhode Island awaits with fall foliage, I'm just a few dress fittings and bachelorette party away from saying "I Do" to a very happy ending!
… but now there is only heartbreak.
Mr. Seashell’s Mom passed away yesterday. Her cancer took a horrible turn for the worse late last week, and things are forever changed. It doesn’t feel real. It is simply horrendous. We are in shock, disbelief, and feeling a depth of emotion that I cannot even quantify.
Mr. Seashell’s Mom, Justine, has touched my life in a way for which I can only express gratitude. From the moment we met, she welcomed me into her world with the warmest, most open arms. She has treated me like a daughter, and loved me not only for loving her son but for who I was as an individual. We spent countless afternoons together - just the two of us - talking, sharing in our hopes and dreams for the future, daydreaming about weddings, and grandchildren, and all that was to come, while “the boys” were off doing their own thing. I knew I was hopelessly blessed to have a Future Mother-In-Law whom I genuinely loved. Loved. I love you, Justine.
This loss will be felt for a long time in countless ways.

Mrs. Spaniel, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation: 28, Law Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Psychologist
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Calamigos Ranch
About Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
After a few pictures and a chance for guests to grab a drink, the DJ called everyone into the reception area to continue the cocktail hour inside, while we made our way onto the dance floor for our “grand entrance” (we boogied into the room to Wilco’s Hoodoo Voodoo, which was the only adequately celebratory song for such an occasion, I think!), from which we would go straight into our first dance.
So let me tell you a little about this first dance business. I mentioned before that we were going to attempt a Danish wedding waltz, but we were really nervous about how it would play out on the wedding day. So in addition to our two private lessons, we practiced twirling around our living room almost every night for a month, sent the video to our wedding party, our DOC, our photographer, and our DJ just to make sure everyone was prepared for the awesomeness that was going to happen on the dance floor. And in case that wasn’t enough, we practiced with most of our wedding party in the hotel suite the night before the wedding.
And then we rocked the hell out of it.

Mrs. Lobster, Brooklyn
Age and Occupation: 29, Finance Girl
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance Boy
Engagement Date: July 25, 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Stage 6 Steiner Studios
About Me: I'm a New York-born, Virginia-bred girl who's found her way back to the big city. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
Yippee!
THE dress has arrived and we will be reunited soon enough. But like many reunions, I should come bearing gifts… and by gifts I mean accessories. To get the best idea of how my wedding day look will come together, I want to bring as many of my day of beauties I can. To get inspired, I looked at Style Me Pretty’s accessory photo gallery:

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: June 27, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu
About Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
Sometimes, I feel like I’ll really miss this wedding planning business. I’ve had so many amazing conversations with Mr. Sew during the process. Sure, some of them involved fighting, but there were also plenty with riotous laughing and victory dances around the living room.
Take, for instance, this super cute “tears of joy” project by the talented Mrs. Sunrise:

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 42, PhD Student & Farmer
Engagement Date: June 13, 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Indian Head Camp, Honesdale Pennsylvania
About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.
After a hard day’s work she’s not too tired to come home from her very professional job and walk through her super nice neighborhood with me and rummage through her neighbor’s recycling for tin cans for the centerpieces.

Together we love exploring the city streets embarking on our next misadventure---and yes, this often involves eating off food carts and trying "the next big thing". I'm the girl in the sundress, snapping photos and collecting trinkets of memorabilia along the way. As a girly girl at heart, I am excited about our romantic natural island wedding incorporating our American & Filipino traditions.

Engagement Date: March 9, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: The Pierre Hotel
About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
I never really noticed all the little details at weddings until I got engaged. Now, when I see a handcrafted menu or beautiful escort cards, I appreciate all the hours of effort that took place behind the scenes. I wrote about my favorite some of my favorite outfit details (including those infamous shoes) here. Although I’m not yet finished with my recaps, here are some more of my favorite details from our wedding:
