Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst

Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Vintage Villas
About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
I’ve been wanting to write this post for about two weeks now, but because the USPS hates me and decided to start forwarding my mail two weeks before I asked them to, it’s been slightly delayed.
But! Today, I received my something borrowed in the mail. And I am oh so excited about it.
Let me tell you about it. It had been a long (LONG) day of packing, laundry, and more packing (Mr. Cardy and I are moving into a bigger place next weekend), when we finally made it back home, exhausted and ready to just about pass out. I decided to check the mail, figuring I wouldn’t have anything (since, you know, our postman hates me), but to my surprise, there was a big manilla envelope in there addressed to me!
I opened it up to find this (ridiculously adorable) card:

About Me: I’m an expat living in Tokyo. I’ve been in Japan for almost three years now, where I met my fantastic English fiance. Our wedding will be a mix of my love for food, beer, my Japanese culture, and Mr. G’s Englishness. We are on a tiny budget and DIYing almost everything!

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Investments Advisor
Engagement Date: September 20, 2008
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Ceremony: Catholic Church, Reception: Hotel Ballroom
About Me: I'm a Midwestern girl who longs to live in a warmer climate (my feet would be happy in flip flops any day!). I love travel, impromptu napping, grilled cheese sandwiches, my iPhone, singing with reckless abandon in my car, and Mr. French Fries.
When I last left off, I noted that the sunset picture I took one evening walking back to our room would be the last gorgeous sunset we would see on our honeymoon. This was about 4 or 5 days in, and we stayed there a total of 9 days.
So what happened the rest of our trip? Well, just a little thing named “Alex”. Tropical Storm Alex, to be exact. Yup, that’s right — we got hit with a tropical storm on our honeymoon! That meant that our gorgeous views every day went from this:

Wedding Date: June 7, 2008

About Me: I love the Spice Girls, dogs with underbites, bean burritos, making messes, high fives, avoiding showers, crossword puzzles, blogs, weddings, and blogs about weddings!
I have an awesome return address stamp I got from my Weddingbee Secret Santa, Mrs. Lemon, 3 (!!!) Christmases ago that I use all the time. It features my name only, so I thought it was a good time to get one that had my husband’s name on it. You know, because he lives here, too.
I’m pretty sure I heard of Primele on Weddingbee. Swearsies. But I can’t for the life of me find any reference to it, so… boo. But once I saw it, I knew I had to get my hands on my own Primele stamp!
Upon first glance it appears as any other address stamp…

But check out this custom calligraphy goodness that the actual stamp produces:

Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY
Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law
Engagement Date: June 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Heron Hill Winery
About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
… things do change.
We will still have a wedding, but it might not be the wedding we had envisioned. I’ve come to accept the fact that my father might not won’t be able to help us pay for the wedding and that my mother probably won’t be able to make up the difference. In that event (as soon as we know for sure), I will make the necessary cuts to our guest list and revisit how we plan our reception.
I will use a bit more tact than this:

Mrs. Thimble, NYC/Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 26, Actress & Costume Designer (+ day job)
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lawyer & Techie Wiz
Engagement Date: August 22, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: The Pearl S. Buck House
About Me: I’m an easily inspired over-thinker delighted with the process of designing, building, directing and {dare I say} co-starring in the early-autumn affair I’ve been dreaming up. I’m a sucker for trendied-up comfort foods and old family anecdotes; I have an affinity for adjectives, alliteration, eyelet and earl grey; and I live for quality time with family and friends. I never guessed I’d marry my “high school sweetheart", but when it turned out to be my funny, techie, loyal Mr. Thimble I was committed for life. We’re both mid-career transition and ready to move back to small-townish TBD, PA in a pre-wedding flurry of all-good life changes.
At hand-addressing envelopes! I had my mind set on faux-ligraphy. It’s such a genius idea, why doesn’t everyone do it and save money?
This… could be why:

Mrs. Seashell, Chicago, IL / Providence, RI
Age and Occupation: 28, Marriage and Family Therapist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: September 3, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: The Glen Manor House
About Me: Fonts and fashion, stationery and Sundays, photography and french toast... the beauty is in the details for this fun-loving Chicagoan who loves to plan plan plan! The soon-to-be hubs plays "Mr. Fix-It" in our new condo while I swoon over beautiful, personalized stationery and choose shades of aubergine for my bridesmaids' dresses... and thus begins my new fairy tale! Skirting to the East Coast for our September nuptials where my home state of Rhode Island awaits with fall foliage, I'm just a few dress fittings and bachelorette party away from saying "I Do" to a very happy ending!
I’m not really sure where to start. Or where this is going. Bear with me.
I’ve had about 4 days back in reality. Mr. Seashell’s Mom passed away last Tuesday, we spent the remainder of the week making arrangements for her Memorial Service, the weekend honoring her life, and returned to work on Monday. The whirlwind of it all still hasn’t set in. All I know is that we’re hopelessly exhausted.
On Monday morning my Mom and I made a wedding “to do” list. It didn’t contain any surprises, but it overwhelmed me beyond belief. My Mom is a do-er, she is able to accomplish more in a day than I usually can, and she will tackle her remaining wedding tasks full-force. However, she has no crafting talent. We both have no crafting talent, but she actually outdoes me in that category. It’s bad. Mr. Seashell’s mom was a crafting genius. She actually was an artist. With her helping hand no longer available, I’m feeling lost.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot
Engagement Date: February 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington
About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
That sounds a little dirty…
Last Friday I spent my time Cricut-ing it up and assembling our invites. And, since we were past our goal deadline of mailing these last Thursday, I assembled into the wee hours of the morning. 5 a.m., to be exact. Don’t judge. That’s what happens when you take a 4 hour nap at 8:30 p.m. on a Friday (I said don’t judge). But, I just had to get them done. I wanted to drop them off at the Post Office on Saturday morning to ensure they would start arriving this week.
And, that’s exactly what Mr. A and I did. To the post office we went last Saturday (which was horribly hot b-t-dubs—like 115 degree-heat-index-hot).

Can’t you just feel how hot it is in that photo? I can.

About Me: I am a Type A, emotional Italian fireball, who on a weekly basis must be brought back to reality by my level headed, calm, cool and collected fiance. We are planning an intimate, all white with hints of black, vintage inspired wedding on the old sugar aqueducts of Jamaica, with 30 of our closest friends and family flying in to witness the occasion. We are not traditional by any means and will be doing things very differently. :)

Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston
Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician
Engagement Date: January 8, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: MacLean Park
About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
Our ceremony is going to be short and sweet. Sometime this month when I get around to it, I’ll try to read it out and time it to about 10 minutes. We plan on having our guests stand surrounding us in a semi-circle, however, we’d like to have a couple of rows for our elderly guests or those who have difficulty standing for that long. We can’t afford to rent chairs, and we toyed with the idea of bringing in mismatched chairs. I’d die if we could find enough pews (I own one, but it’s having an extended stay at a friend’s house), but it seems benches and pews won’t happen either. So what’s a girl with nearly empty pockets to do?

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid off
Engagement Date: August 14, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: Rancho San Carlos
About Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
We ladies know that there is one week out of every month that we should not wear white. But what if your wedding day happens to fall right smack in the middle?

I’ve been on the pill for years, and my cycle is pretty regular, which is how I know that it’s due to start the day of our wedding. I was horrified when I realized this, and made a beeline for the doctor’s office. I asked her if there was a safe way to delay or skip that cycle, and she had two suggestions:

Mr. Glasses and I are an unconventional couple in many ways. The way our relationship started and carried on is different than most. Likewise, the story of our engagement is rather… interesting. I don’t have an engagement ring, and I won’t have one, ever. While some might say that’s sad, it was my decision.
One night a couple weeks after my birthday in September of ’08, Mr. G had taken me to meet his coworkers. He was a little tipsy and kept telling them I was the girl he was going to marry as soon as he had a ring for me. I told him I didn’t need one over and over again. On the train ride back, he told me he would propose to me once he had a ring, and again, I told him I didn’t need one.
So he proposed. Right there in that empty train car heading home at 12:30 AM on a Saturday night. While I was eating a McDonald’s french fry.
Of course I said yes! I called my parents and told them we were getting hitched and cried happy tears all the way back (it was a pretty long train journey). I think, inevitably, if he hadn’t proposed that night, we would have decided to get married sooner or later. I had thought it out in my head even before he proposed—we were already living together, we weren’t going to be living in Japan forever, and if we wanted to stay together we’d have to get married to live in either of our home countries. And why not? It was basically love at first sight with us, we were inseparable after the first night we met, we never fought, and everything has always been happy.
