Mrs. Pin Cushion, Oakland, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Nurse Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentEngagement Date: November 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Radonich Ranch, Los GatosAbout Me: I'm the 3 Cs: crafty, creative and quirky (oh, that's not a C? Close enough!). I'm also a recycling fanatic, fluent in bad accents and I have the loudest laughter this side of the Mississippi. I have not just one sweet tooth, but a whole mouth full of sweet teeth. I cry at 97.4% of all movies I see, but my fiance's always there to hand me a tissue. My geek-chic fiance and I are planning a wedding full of color, cookies and handmade goodness and I can't wait to spill the beans on all of our crazy ideas!
A recent NY Times article, “For Better, For Worse, For B.M.I.” discusses how often people gain the marriage fifteen after they say “I Do.” (Also coined “love chub” and “happy pounds” in the article!) Married men and women have higher B.M.I.s than their single or dating counterparts, and they are much more likely to be obese.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Online SalesEngagement Date: February 8, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Amy's ManorAbout Me: I'm an opinionated Midwestern girl now living in the Valley of the Sun marrying a laid back Northwestern guy. I'm equal parts sass, silly and sweet. I'm fiercely loyal with a strong devotion to my family and friends. I have a not-so-secret obsession with apple juice, a new obsession with DIY projects and I love a really good cheese plate...with lots of wine. After 7 blissful years of dating, I'm having the time of my life planning the destination wedding of my dreams to my Mr. Frog-turned-Prince Charming.
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NYAge and Occupation: 25, Research TechnicianFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the LawEngagement Date: June 15, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Heron Hill WineryAbout Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
I don’t know why, but I have always had a sweet admiration for anything lace. Whether it be lace trimmed camis, lace bras, lace doilies, or lace appliques I can’t help drooling when I see it (Miss Lace, I even wanted your icon!). Maybe it’s the delicate intricacy it possesses or maybe it’s the lovely vintage feel it emits. Read more…
Mrs. Cardigan, AustinAge and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems AnalystEngagement Date: August 16, 2009Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Vintage VillasAbout Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
As we have discussed before, the road to finding Mr. Cardigan’s (and his groomsmen’s) outfit for the wedding has been… frustrating, to say the least. There have been times where we’ve both wanted to give up and just let them all go naked. But, somehow I have a feeling my grandma might not be too happy about that. So, we’ve forged onward!
We’ve found his suit (and we LOVE it), and we found socks. But that leaves ties, shoes, and shirts. Shirts should be pretty easy (watch me eat my words on that one…) so we’ve been focused lately on ties. From the beginning, we’ve had different ideas about ties - I can’t let go of wanting striped ties, and he’s set on paisley. Now, I know it’s his outfit. And I told him that a million times - he should wear what he wants! But he really respects my opinion when it comes to fashion, and he really wants me to be happy with what he’s wearing. In addition to the fact that I’m not a huge paisley fan, I kept trying to remind him that not all guys will like paisley - and it’s important to us that the guys want to wear their stuff again! Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Ladder 15 RestaurantAbout Me: I am originally from the Midwest, but I love being an East Coast transplant! Mr. Socks and I are foodies and winos to the core---give us a hunk of cheese, some charcuterie and a glass of wine and we could die happy. We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!
For some reason, I can’t say “minimoon” out loud without defaulting into my Dr. Evil voice.
Anyway…
Mr. Socks and I have decided on taking a short 5 or 6 day minimoon after our wedding! We had tossed around some pretty grand honeymoon ideas including Aruba, Hawaii, Europe, and South Africa, but alas, our funds would not allow for a $5000-$6000 vacation.
To keep costs down as low as possible, we knew we wanted to stay in the States and would probably want to drive to our destination. So what did we automatically gravitate to?

Mrs. Taffy, Ann ArborAge and Occupation: 28, Color and Materials DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Automotive DesignerEngagement Date: May 9, 2008Wedding Date: May 2009Blogging Since: September 14, 2008Venue: University of Michigan UnionAbout Me: I’m a girl who is crazy about Mr. Taffy, sewing, dancing, almost all types of sweets, and our cute pet canaries. I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
I am interrupting the Taffy wedding recaps to blog about our first anniversary trip to Paris!
After our wedding last May, Mr. Taffy and I took a minimoon on Lake Michigan, with the intention on going on a more traditional honeymoon for our first anniversary. After some debate, we decided to spend 12 fabulous days in Paris. I hope that these recaps will be helpful to anyone planning a honeymoon or vacation to this beautiful city!
Mr. Taffy and I flew to Paris from Detroit on a Saturday morning. We had a very brief layover in Montreal (where we practiced some of our French!), and arrived in Paris Sunday morning, which was our actual anniversary, at around 6 am. We had several hours to kill before checking into our hotel, so after we dropped our luggage there, we set off to see the city!
We were a bit delirious (we couldn’t sleep on the plane), but were very excited! Without exactly planning where to go, we ended up at the Louvre. We were in awe of the size of the museum, and wondered how we would ever get through it!
Mrs. Sand Dollar, HoustonAge and Occupation: 24, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical TechnicianEngagement Date: January 8, 2010Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: MacLean ParkAbout Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
I finally finished printing and cutting all our invites and RSVPs. I decided to just go with the home printer route instead of screen printing everything. I just got a little burnt out on that process. Read more…
Mrs. Pashmina, NYC/Catalina Island, CAAge and Occupation: 28, Arts EducationFiance's Age and Occupation: 34, IT AdministratorEngagement Date: April 26th, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Catalina Country Club, Catalina Island, CaliforniaAbout Me: I'm a laid-back Cali girl who moved to NYC for school, and ended up staying for love. My fiance is a quick-witted Jersey boy, a self-proclaimed Foodie and the funniest man I've ever met. Together we love exploring the city streets embarking on our next misadventure---and yes, this often involves eating off food carts and trying "the next big thing". I'm the girl in the sundress, snapping photos and collecting trinkets of memorabilia along the way. As a girly girl at heart, I am excited about our romantic natural island wedding incorporating our American & Filipino traditions.
So, I have been playing around a bit in my sketch book––playing with the idea of using native California and Catalina Island animals for table numbers. I found a great site that lists and describes all the endemic animal species. Catalina Island is like a little Galapagos Island so there are a lot of animals that are very specific to the island. I like the idea of using animals instead of flowers because it feels a little bit more rustic––like the island.

Would you leave out the adorable Deer Mouse, well, because he is a mouse and may not make the guests so hungry? What about the bat for the same reasons?

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography StudentEngagement Date: February 14, 2010Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Gardens of the WorldAbout Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
What do you do when you are stuck in the middle of a soggy Southern hemisphere winter? Daydream about your honeymoon, of course. Bali, baby. Oh how much I wish I was there right now, enjoying a pina colada by the pool instead of typing this post with frigid fingers.
Because we both grew up in Indonesia, Bali is a familiar holiday spot for Mr E and I. One might ask why we would choose to honeymoon somewhere we have been many times before, and the answer is that we chose it precisely because we are so familiar with it. Read more…

Engagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Family Ranch outside Glenrock, WYAbout Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
So there’s this really big trend in weddings where the bride and groom do a “first look” instead of waiting until she walks down the aisle. This allows more time for photos and such between the ceremony and reception.
I always thought this was a great idea. Read more…

Mrs. Oyster, DallasAge and Occupation: 30, Music TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 46, Art TeacherEngagement Date: January 9, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: The Tower ClubAbout Me: I'm a Texa-Californian with a penchant for sparkly things and a tendency to think a lot. I've been known to sing random songs or dance when there is no music on. My fiance and I love world culture, we love to travel, and we have an incredibly eclectic taste in music. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate our marriage with our family & closest friends. We're planning an “urban black-tie” wedding and hope to incorporate our personalities and some of our own interests. We look forward to a life of love, laughter, good music, beautiful art, and to creating our home together with our four (!) cats.
Years ago, when I was single, I had a dream that it was my wedding day, and I didn’t have a dress. People were running around, there were some flowers, and my mother and I were staring at the closet thinking, “What shall I wear?” Eventually we chose some old dress and some earrings. But it wasn’t what I really wanted.
Apparently my mother, having known I’d meet someone someday, had sent me a beautiful Vera Wang dress. But the dress was so unbelievably beautiful and my prospects for marriage so far away that I couldn’t imagine it, and I had sent the dress back. And there I was, having spent so much time in disbelief that I refused to believe anything good was coming my way, and inadvertently ruined a day that was so important to me.
I told my mom about the dream and she, being much more religious than I, said that this dream was a message. It meant that I needed to believe that good things could happen for me, and that I should “get ready.”

In early January we placed the order for our personally designed Save the Date magnets. Approximately 2 weeks later they arrived in the mail and I couldn’t have been more excited! I felt like a kid at Christmas opening her first present and tore that box open before I got down the driveway! I was completely and utterly thrilled to finally see them in their printed glory.
Well… that’s a lie. A huge part of me was disappointed. Read more…
