No, actually. I know I can’t dance. In fact, I’m pretty horrible at it. And so is Mr. Cardigan!
But, that doesn’t stop us from dreaming big. You see, we have high aspirations of wowing our guests with our gorgeously choreographed and perfectly performed first dance. Never mind the fact that neither of us has any sort of knowledge of how to dance or has ever attempted anything more complicated than the seventh-grade sway. What can I say, we’re optimistic!

(Source) This is about the extent of our knowledge!
After nearly six years with Mr. Handy, we have finally SET A DATE!!!
We were hoping for mid-April because it is out of peak season for Jamaica, and we wanted to go easy on our guests’ wallets. When we arrived in Jamaica back in April, it was deathly hot—too hot for an outdoor wedding. So we decided to bump up the wedding (no complaining from me!). This is how it went down…
Me - OK, since April is obviously out, we need to move it up.
Mr. H - So let’s do Valentine’s Day?
Me - Um…then we can’t use our tax refund, and our guests can’t use theirs either.
Mr. H - OK, so then March.
Me - OK, how about the middle of March?
Mr. H - Three one three!

About a month ago, Mrs. Dahlia let the Boston bees know that she’d be in town for a few days, and was wondering if anyone might be interested in getting together for some dinner and drinks. Miss Seahorse and I took her up on the offer, and it turns out that Miss Seahorse is exactly as fun and nice and interesting as she seems on her blog (which is to say, very!). So, now we are blog-turned-real-life friends. The Internet is magical!
Anyway, MOH/Sister Lauren was in town visiting me for a few days, and she and Bridesmaid/Cousin Katie are both avid Weddingbee readers, so I texted Seahorse to see if she was around. She was! So she and Fancee came over to my house and we all drank wine and talked about weddings (and some other stuff)! Lauren and Katie were extremely thrilled to meet a real live Weddingbee blogger in the flesh (I mean, other than me—I am not exciting to them).
Fun fact about Seahorse and Fancee:

…and I am still in love!
Many weeks ago (months after our initial visit) Mr. L and I decided to take another trip to our wedding venue, Heron Hill Winery. I was a combination of nervous and excited because I always think of the worse case scenarios.
What if I didn’t like it anymore? What if it wasn’t as stunning as I remembered? What if I didn’t like the new event coordinator?
Fortunately, all my worries went out the door as we pulled up to the entrance and I saw it again in all its glory:

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Shoes haven’t really been a priority on my wedding to-do list. I wear flip flops at the first sign of spring and wear them until the first sign of winter. When it came to shoes for the wedding, I kind of just assumed I’d wear flats or flip flops. Starfish Mom and Sister Starfish are the complete opposite of me with shoes—they love them, especially heels. They told me I have to wear heels. I said, “we’ll see.”
When the dress came in, I tried it on and…. it was too long. I know I could get it hemmed, but my favorite part of the dress is the beautiful detail on the bottom (I would show this, but I’m keeping my dress a surprise until the wedding day). I can’t bear cutting it off. So, Sister Starfish and Starfish Mom are getting their wish… I’ll begrudgingly wear heels on our wedding day.
I’ve looked and looked for shoes, but nothing sparked my interest, until I browsed the Neiman Marcus website and found these amazing heels from Guiseppe Zanotti:

Today’s review comes from Soon2BeeMrsLewis of her wedding coordinator, Katy Carrier Events in California!

Katy saved my wedding day. I thought I could easily go through my entire wedding day without a coordinator and it just wouldn’t have been the same. Katy was on top of the ENTIRE day and didn’t miss a detail. Even guests made comments to me on how on top of it my wedding coordinator seemed to be.

While I patiently wait for the pro pics (Hi Stephanie!), I wanted to share with you one of the most special gifts we have received since the wedding.
I longed to have the budget to include a videographer for our big day but it just wasn’t in the cards. I knew that many family members would be videotaping various parts of the ceremony and reception and decided that would just have to be good enough.
Enter Cousin J.
Cousin J and I are just one year apart and are more siblings than cousins. He’s one of my best friends and as a groomsman in our wedding, I was thrilled he was able to make the trip up from Texas - add to that the fact that he was the best man in a friend’s wedding the following weekend in Michigan. He was a total jet setter for a good two weeks.
When he arrived, he had the new iPhone 4.

A week before our wedding, I added putting together a “dress cleaning emergency bag” to my to do list.
I had already planned on having a bag with the necessities with me, like makeup and a sweater, but after reading a post on one of my daily blog reads, Thoughts of the All Consumed Bride, I decided to add some emergency dress-cleaning items to my bag. And it’s a good thing I did because my dress managed to get pretty dirty during our first look, even though I’d had it bustled before we left the hotel to avoid this very issue!
(It’s hard to see in this picture, but there was a label on the top of the bag listing the things that needed to be added at the last minute, so I wouldn’t forget anything.)

I know that the “something old, something new, etc.” tradition is referring to the bride’s get-up, but somehow it looks like our wedding is slowly acquiring things that fit the tradition as well. I already told you about our something blue for the day, now let me tell you about our “something old”:
Otherwise known as the cake topper from the day Mr E’s parents got married back in the ’80s.
Tulip61110’s wedding dress featured a stunning floral belt.

My skin tone is… well, it’s sort of a whiter shade of pale. Of primarily Scottish descent, I inherited extremely fair skin. I like to describe it as “Nicole Kidman” or “porcelain doll”, but most everyone else calls it “Casper” or “vampire”. Regardless, my skin is very sensitive to sunlight and I have learned the hard way that sunscreen is an absolute, non-negotiable necessity any time I am outside. Generally, I can deal with the greasiness and the scent of a poolside summer. But on our wedding day? Well, let’s just say it’s not the “signature scent” I had in mind.

Scent is strongly tied to memory for me.
I am going to take a break from the inspiration posts to talk about something a bit controversial. I actually had a dream about this last night, so I need to get this off my chest.
I think we’ve all heard the phrase “relationships are about sacrifice.” While relationships are all also about love, trust, loyalty, forgiveness, I believe there is a certain amount we must sacrifice for our darlings. Mr. Glasses is the ultimate example. He is making a HUGE sacrifice to be with me. He is giving up his home country and all the familiarity and comfort that comes with it to move to big, terrifying America (my words, not his). He can only see his family once in a while. That would be a big one for me because I’m very close to my mother and father.
Mr. G’s sacrifice is so big, I thought, what about me? What kind of sacrifices am I making?
Well, I’m young, see. At the tender age of 24, I’ve got a lot of options. When I first left for Japan, I thought it would be a one-year stint. I wanted to learn more about my culture, have some fun, improve my Japanese, live in a different country for a while, and earn some valuable and rewarding work experience. After Japan I thought I’d take that experience and go on to teach in Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc. Teach a year everywhere and really experience what the world was like. In the end, I’d go on a massive backpacking trip for a couple of months, end up in India or Russia, and then come home a well-traveled and worldly woman.
Oh Miss Glasses…remember the time you backpacked through Europe and destroyed your liver?
Soooooo… I got our programs designed! I wanted to keep the style and theme similar to our save the dates and invites. Since we’re having a laid-back ceremony, and keeping it at about 10 minutes, I decided not to include an order of events. Here’s what I came up with for the front:
I love it! It sums up our entire event. And for the back, I channeled my inner Twilighter.

Since discovering Weddingbee, I’ve heard a lot about little prints called Moo Cards. More specifically, Moo’s MiniCards. Bees have used Moo cards as escort cards, photo website cards, trivia game cards, bitty photo inserts, or info inserts in their save the dates! (Okay, just run a search on Weddingbee for Moo Cards and you’ll get all these posts and MORE.)
It was that last linked post—to Mrs. Pin Cushion’s save the dates—that made me want to scream, “What aaare Moo cards and why do feel like I have to have them?!?!??” I saw a couple of these little bitty pretties in person over brunch shortly after becoming a blogging bee, and I immediately schemed a way to fit them into our wedding. They are cute, quality, and they scream for your attention. Many of our guests overlooked our website on our save the dates, so why not grab their attention in our invitation suite?
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to write this post. While in Jamaica, we hired photographer Michael Chen to take our engagement pictures. I have chosen only a select few because we have over 45 pictures. We did pick one of them for our save the dates.
