Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).

Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

Before Mr. Cardigan

July 27th, 2010 @ 8:11 am by Mrs. Cardigan

There are times when I feel like I don’t have much of a right to talk about crappy exes or how past relationships have shaped who I am today. Mr. Cardigan is only the second person I have ever dated and was the first person I ever kissed. So, in a way, I don’t have much experience at all when it comes to relationships.

However, I definitely took a few things with me from my first boyfriend, and from other various guys that I dated that never turned into boyfriends. Each and every time I look back on any of these boys who hurt me along my way to Mr. Cardigan, I feel more and more grateful to have him in my life. And even though these guys from my past hurt me in many different ways, I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t gone through that.

Before Mr. Cardigan : wedding austin relationships Cardigan cardigan

I love this guy! But he wasn’t always in my life!

So, today, let’s talk about these past relationships that have shaped who we are now. I’ll start. :)

Here We Go

July 26th, 2010 @ 7:05 pm by Mrs. Sewing

For the past six years, it’s always been just Mr. Sew and me. Sure, there’s been family and friends along the way, but it is Mr. Sew that I come home to at night. It is Mr. Sew that helps decide what we eat for dinner, where we go on weekends, and what TV show we marathon next. It is Mr. Sew I see under the couch, re-wiring some part of the house, and it is Mr. Sew who follows me on his scooter when I go jogging late at night.

Introverted as I am, Mr. Sew fits right into my tightly wrapped personal shell, like an extension of myself. I can tell him what I’m thinking, no matter how strange the thought. I can switch my train of thought on a dime; he’ll never miss a beat. I can get angry with him for something he said in a dream, and he’ll just give me a hug and remind me that I’m crazy. He can’t be held responsible for dream-Mr. Sew, after all.

Mr. Sew is my soul mate. My genius. My loyal companion.

I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.

Washington Bee-C

July 26th, 2010 @ 6:42 pm by Mrs. Veggie

Two weeks ago some fabulous D.C. bees organized a nice quaint get-together for a few readers and bloggers. You know, just a small gathering to share wedding ideas and advice. A few girls thought it would be a good idea, and then a few more, and then I hopped on the bandwagon as a D.C. summer resident, and by last week it morphed into this:

Look out D.C., the bees are taking over! Yep, that’s right. All those gorgeous gals are bees.

Where My Girls At?

July 26th, 2010 @ 5:06 pm by Mrs. Sand Dollar

Where My Girls At? : wedding bridesmaid dress houston Img 206 IMG_206

The SD bridesmaids have an easy lot in life. As our wedding is pretty darn casual, we decided to make things as simple as possible for the guys and gals standing up with us. I wanted my ladies to love me without having to spend an extra dime on a dress and shoes and accessories just for one day. So, I decided: Let them wear black! Every lady has a LBD, and this will add to the country-chic vibe we’ve got going. Bridesmaid N above is modeling her choice, and I believe she already wore it in another wedding. Double duty!

A Bride Like You’ve Never Seen!

July 26th, 2010 @ 4:42 pm by Mrs. Glasses

In my last post I talked about how Mr. Glasses and I have been discussing where we are moving to in October.

Well, we’ve decided. We are heading to the United States! I am so thankful to Mr. G. He is sacrificing a lot for me. I let him know that the U.S. isn’t a prison sentence, that we can visit England as often as possible, and if he was unhappy in the U.S. we could move to his home country.

So now that we have that settled, we can really start thinking about a wedding ceremony (along with a billion other things!). But we’ve had a BIG change of plans and we are going to do something a little crazy.

A Girl’s Identity…

July 26th, 2010 @ 4:22 pm by Miss Handbag

I had this random discussion with my little brother via email the other day, and it really got me thinking, which can be a very bad thing because I always tend to over-analyze.

Name changing… Yes/No?

I never really thought it would be an issue. I always thought I would gladly get rid of my father’s last name and join the man I marry and share his last name. I despise my father and the fact that I look identical to him. I couldn’t wait to shake the legal bind between us.

Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
About Mrs. Hamster

Many little girls dream of one day getting married and sharing that father-daughter dance. I was not one of those girls. Don’t get me wrong, I was definitely a Daddy’s girl - but more in the “help my dad fix our car” way than a “dance with my dad” way. We built Lego forts. We played soccer in the backyard. And when it came time to plan the father-daughter dance, I didn’t really think he would care too much for it; it just didn’t seem our “thing”.

Over the Moon for My Hammy: Dancing with Daddy Hamster : wedding nyc pictures pro pics recap 13.jpg

Of course, a daughter can often be wrong, so when my Sis Hamster told me that Daddy Hamster was really looking forward to the father-daughter dance (second only to walking me down the aisle), how could I say no? I think his expression in the above photo says it all.

After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.

Face Paint for Grown Ups

July 26th, 2010 @ 3:40 pm by Mrs. Knitting

I’m currently in the middle of trying to figure out what to do about my makeup and I have to say I’m a bit stumped. I’ve had my makeup done once, and while the makeup artist did a good job, I wasn’t the biggest fan of how I looked. I just didn’t really feel like me.

Proof that not all makeup artists are worth the money (if you haven’t read Mrs. Cupcake’s post on her disastrous makeup trial do it now):

Let’s Play the Waiting Game

July 26th, 2010 @ 2:59 pm by Mrs. Frog

Since I’m obsessively checking every 5 minutes waiting patiently for my pro pics, this is a great time to revisit some of the last minute projects I tackled just days before the wedding… and in some cases, literally at the eleventh hour.

Thanks to the genius that is Mrs. Lemon, I discovered iRave and knew I had to add it to my never-ending list of projects. In the early morning hours before our flight to Seattle, I quickly laid out the little photo cards in Photoshop. Because I’m extremely creative (read: brain-dead from lack of sleep and too many last minute wedding projects), I blatantly copied Mrs. Lemon’s fab little directions for using the site. I tried my best to create a design the tied to our theme, it’s sad, but it was the best I could manage on 3 hours of sleep. :)

I also decided in my sleep deprived state that creating cute little Mr. and Mrs. signs for our chairs would be a nice touch… luckily those were very simple to do:

Numbering the Tables

July 26th, 2010 @ 2:37 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

Before I start, I want to give a HUGE shout out to Mr. Cardigan. Without him, this post wouldn’t be here—I lost all of the photos for this post in the process of uploading them, but Mr. C swooped in and saved the day by recovering every last one. He’s my hero! :)

This past weekend, we made a trip to Austin to visit some family that was in town. I had a pretty big wedding project that had been on my mind for some time, and I was itching to get started on it, so I asked my dad to help me out when we were in town. What was the project, you ask? Why, it was our table numbers! I’ve always been inspired by photos of those gorgeous wooden table numbers, and I’ve known for a while that I wanted to include them in our wedding.

So pretty! Of course, this isn’t the type of project that you can take on without some heavy equipment, and luckily my dad has exactly the tools I need! So, on Saturday morning I headed out to their house and we got to work!
