Ms Seahorse's Picture
Ms Seahorse, Boston Age and Occupation: 25, Veterinary Jane-of-all-trades Fiancee's Age and Occupation: 36, former non-profit fundraiser in search of something better Engagement Date: October 17, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Fort Pond Lodge About Me: By day I'm a cat-wrangler, vet tech assistant, pet-sitter, receptionist, and pre-vet student, but the rest of the time, I'm a former-roller-derby girl turned dedicated-wedding planner. I love reading, writing, bicycles, animals, roller skating, and antique-y things of all sorts. I'm a vegetarian who likes spicy foods, while Fiancee Seahorse is a meat eater who does not like spices. We live outside Boston with our menagerie: a fifty pound dog, a one-eyed, seventeen-toed, toothless cat, and a perfectly put together cat who has a penchant for pooping near rather than in her litter box. In addition to planning our small lake-side wedding, we enjoy running around with the puppy, playing board games (Scrabble, anyone?), having little adventures, talking about how we should really clean the house more, and maintaining our little garden of vegetables and wedding flowers.
About Ms Seahorse

Whoa, guys, we’re in full-on wedding mode.

Things to talk about, for your previewing pleasure and my own accountability:

  • Favors! Delicious, yummy, aromatic (in a good way), growing favors. Can you guess what they are by that description? Probably not. Though I may have already told you. Is it wrong to give it away via the blog? Are these things supposed to be surprises? Since when do I do “supposed” to? These are all interesting things to ponder.
  • Invitations. Dude, the amount of work that goes into one piece of paper (oh, wait, wedding invitations are actually like 20 pieces of paper) is ridiculous. That said, I am in love with our invitations. Also in love with the fact that regular stamps will work for them, so there is no need for fancy stamps for us! Also I am very pleased that friendly helpful people work at the post office and are happy to talk to me about 1. my blog, 2. my wedding, 3. cute places in our town, and 4. cats and dogs. What more could you want in a post office (hi Tess!).

Um, I guess that’s it. But we’re doing stuff, like, all the time.

We’re writing vows and maybe at some point thinking about ceremonies. I feel like for the past few months I’ve been wanting to plan our wedding but trying to do so without being that crazy girl who’s planning her wedding way ahead of time. Now it feels like the right time frame to be doing the things we’re doing, and I’m kind of enjoying it.

Also, taking a weekend off of planning is helpful and makes me much happier to plan afterwards. Things we still need to work on:

  • Rehearsal dinner. We think we need one, we want one, we have no idea where to have it or how to pay for it. Fun!
  • Honeymoon. What? You mean study for organic chemistry right after your wedding, but in a pretty place? Okay. But seriously, we should probably plan our honeymoon.

And because I have few pictures for your entertainment, as well as the fact that so much of my absence has been the result of moving, here are some before and after pictures of our apartment. I like the insides of houses and maybe you do, too?

If you come visit, you can stay in here! We’ll replace the big ol’ chair with a futon. When we get rich. Soon, yes? Of course.

Fancee is thinking, “Hmm… I’m not sure about this color.” Don’t worry, Fancee, we’ll fix it!

Hmm I feel like comparing the full to the empty makes it look cluttered. But it’s cozy, not cluttered, I swear.

You so want to come visit, right?

Lastly, I am hella stressed out/anxious/pretty much freaking out all the time with a million different things that are happening in our lives. Oddly, I am in a rather good mood… it just feels like I can’t breathe. No biggie. But seriously, I am sort of crazy right now so if things seem disorganized and chaotic, it’s because they are. Enjoy!

When did the bigness of all of the wedding things hit you? When did it all start to feel like, “We should probably start working on all this, no?” Did it hit you all at once, or did you work gradually? Lastly, do you want to come over and paint our study?

I’m glad your Cambridge post office is serving you well, because the Brookline post office lost, at last count 6 of our 50 invites. No returning them to us, just flat out lost in space. **cue scramble to contact remaining guests who haven’t RSVP’d before the hotel block expires**

(PS love your paint colors :) )

If you can wait after my wedding, I’ll come painting rooms because, well, I’m weird.

Your built in hutch is awesome. I know that doesn’t help with wedding-planning-claustrophobia, but I just wanted to tell you that. :)

It’s hitting me a lot lately! You would think that the more things you check off your list, the better you should sleep at night, right? I think it’s the opposite for me, it just starts a snowball effect of what ELSE needs to get done…..I need a vacation….to your nice cozy house!! Congrats it looks great!! LOVE the floors!!
