…of our guests’ tables.
Mr. Locket and I have slightly differing views when it comes to what we want in our wedding centerpieces. He loves the look of florals (and I do too), but he doesn’t realize how quickly the cost can grow when you add a dozen roses to each table (and multiply it by 12).
In an effort to avoid flowers and still make a statement, I’ve had visions of tall, branched pieces (pictured below) adorned in jewels and dressed with delicate orchids, but these are not budget friendly either

Since the cost of these lovely dramatic pieces would likely add up (even if I DIY’ed), I’ve decided to look into other options. Options that I hope Mr. Locket will be fond of. Though he liked the tall, branched pieces, he was worried that anything tall would be obstructive to our guests’ views and would act as roadblocks to dinner conversation. I do agree with him on this and am grateful for his insight because I began to realize there were more cons than I had originally anticipated. Looking into other options didn’t seem like such a bad idea.
Option A: Scale down the branches and create “mini” branched centerpieces.

I am in love with this idea because I would get to keep my branches and cut back on the florals all at the same time. Not only is this option cost effective, but it still has the potential of making a great statement.
Option B: Go a different route using wine bottles or jars with simple flowers.

I am smitten with this idea, too, because the wine bottles would definitely tie into the whole vintage vineyard wedding theme (not to mention it’s eco-friendly). I also adore the simplistic and rustic feel the mixed glass jars provide. They make a subtle statement without being too over the top and would be perfect for an outdoor wedding. The only downside is that Mr. Locket really doesn’t get the whole mixed-glass look and doesn’t see the cohesive manner in any way.
Option C: Go for a simple, unique, vintage feel with mixed elements.

This last option is quite interesting. It combines vintage elements with a dash of florals and is a surprise twist to your everyday centerpiece. I admire the glamorous look of the patterned china with the lone rose, and the balancing act that the teapot is playing.
With all of these options out there, I am torn. I adore bits and pieces from each of them and would love to find a way to squish them all into one vintage, rustic, elegant beauty. But with more options in the air, my arch nemesis “INDECISION” is on the attack. How can I make up my mind? Well…I am hoping the mister will help me out and “meet me in the middle.” Separately, neither of us can come to a decision on anything (well, besides getting married), but together with a little thought, we always make it work.
Did you and your FI work together in choosing tablescapes? Was choosing your centerpieces a difficult task? Did you go back and forth between ideas before picking one?
