Mrs. Turtle's Picture
Mrs. Turtle, Central California Age and Occupation: 21, Art Student/Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, English Student Engagement Date: August 16, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Mr. Turtle's Grandparents' backyard, Arroyo Grande, CA About Me: I am a California girl who loves the beach and the mountains, but is quite satisfied living right in the middle where I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I am happiest when traveling to faraway places, wandering through museums, watching old movies, or baking up a storm. Mr. Turtle and I are high school sweethearts and fellow book nerds who both drive Mini Coopers and are most likely to be found browsing in antique stores. We're having so much fun planning our European garden wedding with a vintage twist and can't wait to share more of life's adventures together!
About Mrs. Turtle

So I know it’s been a few weeks since you last heard from me… since getting married and returning from our honeymoon, Mr. Turtle and I have been trying to enjoy the relaxing couple of weeks we have before making our cross-country move. Since we are kind of homeless right now, we’ve been bouncing back and forth between our parents’ houses, packing up all of our possessions and visiting our favorite California places and people before we make this big change. Being married feels totally surreal still, and I think it’ll keep feeling that way until we are moved into our new place with all of our own stuff, playing house!

Our wedding stands out in my mind as such a beautiful memory, as close as a day can come to being the perfect day! I am so looking forward to sharing our recaps with you and telling you all about it once we get all of the professional pictures back. But since that might be a while, and I know that Mr. Turtle and I are about to be caught up in about a month of craziness before we are settled into our new life, I’m going to take this week to share some details and photos of our amazing European honeymoon! (I had to come up with something! I don’t want you guys forgetting me, as I slip into becoming an old Bee!) ;)

I’ll skip all the boring traveling parts.

We landed in London at about 1 PM after being on a plane for eleven hours. I remember feeling totally exhausted. However, since we’d come so far, we didn’t want to waste any time! We dropped our stuff off at the hotel and started wandering. Our hotel was located right by the Marble Arch, so first our walk took us through Hyde Park…

Looooved those English gardens!!

We walked around the park to Knightsbridge and made our first visit to Harrods. Since both of us had heard that the giant store is more like a giant tourist trap, we ended up being pleasantly surprised! We were in awe of the selection that Harrods had to offer, especially their selection of food! Craaazy!

I was super excited to run into a Laduree before we’d even made it to Paris! After eating an early dinner at Cafe Harrods, we sat down and had some delicious desserts at Laduree! Unfortunately, they don’t allow photos inside, but we were seated in the room in the center below photo.

After that, we walked back to our hotel and went to bed early, hoping to be well rested for the rest of our time in London!

Where are you going for your honeymoon? Did you choose a relaxing, tropical location? Or are you planning a busy, big city getaway like we chose?

You spent 11 hours on a plane and still look totally adorable! You’ve inspired me to dress better for all long plane trips. :-)

Hi! My fiance and I are getting married in April 2011 and we’re going to London too — do you mind me asking where you stayed?

@Mrs. Kitchen: Haha, I laughed when I read this, because we actually hated our hotel. We stayed at The Cumberland, right off of Marble Arch/Hyde Park. It was a really contemporary style hotel (pretty sterile looking.) We didn’t find it romantic at all for a honeymoon, and one day the water went off for a whole day, so we had to walk around London with greasy hair! Our travel agent booked it for us, so next time I’d do some research and find our own place. Sorry I can’t help, and good luck with your wedding planning and honeymoon research! :)
