My First DIY: For the Ladies

August 3rd, 2010 @ 10:08 am by Mrs. Plaid

From the beginning, I’ve always wanted to make my own invitations, Save the Dates, everything. I figured I’d start small and make some “Will you be my Bridesmaid” cards. I think they turned out pretty cute. Here’s how I did it:

I went to Archiver’s and picked out some pre-made cards. I got dark blue circles, white flower shaped circles and white envelopes. I also picked out a pretty flower stamp and some red ink.

First I started experimenting with fonts on my computer until I found one I liked. Once I found one, I printed “Will you be my bridesmaid” in blue on the white scalloped edged circle. This part was a bit challenging as my printer was being bratty and didn’t want to take the paper in straight.

Next I glued those to the larger blue circle. After that I took the flower stamp and added that to the bottom corner of the front. I also used it on the back of the envelopes after I sealed them. I had some issues with the stamp smudging. I think I probably need to give them more time to dry before going on to the next step.

They still needed something so I added a small red bow using some ribbon I already had.

I then glued regular white computer paper on the back of the blue circle and wrote a personal note to each of my three bridesmaids. I hope they love them. I think they turned out cute!

How did you ask your ladies to be your bridesmaids?

These are really cute! I just asked mine over the phone, but in retrospect I wish I would have done something cute like this. Great job!

very cute and simple — I did not do the will you be my bridesmaids cards but — I think i might use your idea in the gift bags as a thank you for being my bridesmaid card.

Thanks ladies. My girls loved them! And they were super easy to make. Definitely not a necessary project, but a great way to start the wedding planning process.

How adorable! I really wish I had done this! I did the simple asking on the phone as soon as I was engaged. It would have been nice to make a card for them though!

I wished I had done these (I Photoshopped, or more accurately, my husband Photoshopped Mrs. Kitten’s cards that I gave to my BMs w/ their gifts.) These look easy to make and they’re very cute. What font is that -I’ve seen it before, & I love it. Since I didn’t really ask anyone to be my BMs, I ended up with an extra (my niece jumped on board!), but that was fine with me. My sisters and my BFFs knew they’d be BMs.

I found this really cute poem online that I wrote in purple ink on these little purple notecards (one of our colors is purple, can you tell hehe). The poem said: I’ll need you there to fix my dress and do my hair, to stand by my side like you have through the years and be strong for me if I have any tears. You turn all my lemons into lemonade so please will you be my bridesmaid?

@eileen marie: The font is called Maryland Ho. I’m not sure where I got it, but you can probably find it through Google.@jlp2w71611: That poem is super cute. I’m not creative enough to come up with unique poems…haha.
