Mrs. French Bulldog's Picture
Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange County Age and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing Analyst Engagement Date: November 8, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: Bernardo Winery About Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
About Mrs. French Bulldog

As you can probably tell, The French Bulldogs didn’t shy away from your typical wedding timeline. Mr Frenchie and I had been to a few wedding while we were dating and took notes on the things we liked and didn’t like. We really like when couples would get the speeches out of the way at the beginning, when you were still full from cocktail hour and happy you were sitting down. So, after our first dance, we went right into the speeches.

Papa Frenchie went first…

I thought about posting his entire speech, but I since I start tearing up just looking at these pictures, I wasn’t sure I could make it through transcribing the whole speech.

My Daddy isn’t a “big talker” like me… or my Mom. He’s more introverted, like Mr Frenchie.

My Dad doesn’t say, “I love you” all the time, but I know how much he loves me through his actions. He bought a book on writing this speech. While we were waiting for my Mom and Sister to arrive at my birthday lunch (2 months before the wedding) he took out a piece of paper and pen, asked me questions and took notes.

He dedicated a lot of time an effort into writing a meaningful speech for our wedding and it showed.

I’ve only seen my Dad cry one other time in my life, and that was when we had to put my childhood dog, Muffy, down.

He brought up his Father and my Mother’s parents not being there that day. He cried and everyone else cried with him.

And, in the end he left everyone laughing when he brought up his love for poetry (totally untrue) and read a poem.

This was especially funny to me because earlier that day when I was pinning on his boutonniere, he said, “I look like I read poetry.”

My Dad’s and my special connection has always been our cheesy sense of humor. He makes me laugh. They say girls marry their fathers, and Mr Frenchie’s cheesy sense of humor is one of the reasons I love him so much.

Please tell me I’m not the only cliché! Did you “marry your father”?

So far…

My SO and my dad are so similar its scary. My SO is actually one of my dads good friends son! My dad is the most amazing person in the world and I want to marry someone that has similar qualities. Because of how amazing he is I knew what to look for in a guy. Congrats!

I’m the cliche in reverse! I’m exactly like my father and husband is exactly like my mother!

So sweet! As for marrying my father, in ways. I can see my Dad in McGroom, but there’s a lot of differences. That said, one time I came home from walking my dog (before McGroom and I lived together) and there was a guy in sunglasses waiting for me. My Dad always wears sunglasses, always, so I immediately thought it was my Dad. It wasn’t. It was McGroom. That was super weird.

That is so sweet! :) And to answer your question, if I had a dime for every time I said to Mr. FF “that’s EXACTLY what my dad would do/say” I’d be a very rich woman. ;)

Yep, totally marrying mine. I didn’t do it on purpose, it just happened! ;) I mean, they’re not exactly the same, of course, but there are striking similarities…

Oh, your post has me tearing up! Love the bit about looking like he reads poetry because of the boutonniere.

My dad and FH’s sense of humor is very similar. One of the things I love most about both of them.

what a beautiful post! i teared!!

i am marrying a combo of my grandpa and my dad, which is so funny because they are completely different. grandpa is a rough and tumble farmer and my dad is a cross-country coaching school psychologist. i love them both so much, especially for the one similarity they do have…their love for their families!

I’d never thought till you asked . . . but nope! My dad is LOUD and Mr. PC is quiet and observant. On another note, you look lovely in all the photos!
