…that make the biggest difference and remind me of why I am marrying Mr. L. He really is the greatest (sorry Ali, but he knocks you out here) and always manages to surprise me with the littlest (sometimes big) things to brighten up any cloudy day. A couple months ago, I was hit with some pretty craptastic news that my family was having trouble on the home front and that it could mean a big change in plans for our wedding day.
At that point, I wasn’t sure what was going on and what would happen. Would my father leave the country? Are my parents getting separated? Will Dad still be at the wedding? How can I afford this on my own? I WAS STRESSED! I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to be there for my family and felt selfish for even thinking of myself in their time of turmoil.
Needless to say, I spent a good part of May breaking down in crying fits and fits of anger and confusion. Poor Mr. L didn’t know which way to turn, but he was there by my side through it all. He even took off early from work one day to tidy up the apartment and surprise me because he knows how stressed a sink full of dishes can get me. (I can’t deal with the clutter sometimes.) And he went a step further and knocked the ball out of the park when he scheduled us a couple’s massage one evening after work. It was pretty much the greatest thing that could happen to me and was AAAAAAMAZINGGGGG! A girl really could get used to it. (Watch out, Mr. L—you are setting the bar.)
And, you know what? I got to document it (not the massage part—just time in the relaxation room)! I know I’m crazy…who brings a camera into a spa? I guess I do, but it was on my person and I didn’t plan on bringing it. And really, how could I not document this in someway? (I mean, it was our first time at a spa together.) Okay, now that you know I am not a nut job, onto the photos.
I met L-Money (that’s one of Mr. Locket’s nicknames) in the relaxation room, where we sipped on tea and listened to meditative tunes.
Mr. L giddy and eager for the hour-long massage:

and chillaxin’ on a comfy chair:

Wouldn’t you know…I found bridal magazines waiting to be read:

…don’t mind if I do:

With each sip of chamomile and every magazine page turned, the stresses and frustrations I had been feeling were slowly melting away. Soon enough we were kindly escorted to our room and treated to the most incredible hour-long massage. I left feeling calm and collected and was finally starting to put the stress behind me.
FYI, I highly recommend a full-body massage if you can swing it. It’s def worth the splurge when one needs a mini-vacation from wedding stress. We were lucky to score a great price for the two of us and left with 20% off coupons for our next visit (which I am pretty sure we’ll be needing the week before the wedding).
Has your other half surprised you with something special when you really needed it? What little things does your significant other do to cheer you up? What do you do to de-stress?
