This was by far the part I was looking most forward to in the whole wedding planning process. I’ve always loved wedding dresses. I’ve still got pictures I ripped out of wedding magazine probably 12 years ago saved away in a file.
I was looking at Unbridaled, a local bridal shop’s, inventory online and found the most beautiful dress in the whole world. The shop mostly carries dresses for the nontraditional bride. This particular dress is part of Modern Trousseau’s 2010 collection. It’s called the Macey dress. I love love love it!

I’m going to try to go next week sometime to try it on. I can’t wait! I also found out that MyDreamDress.com can make it for $245, and they’re running a special with free shipping right now. I’m sure the actual dress costs close to $2000, so this may be my only option. I’ve still got to check the site out a bit more and make sure it’s legit. Oh yeah, and try on the dress.
Here are some other dresses that I’ve fallen in love with:
My dad called me today, too, and put me on speakerphone with his girlfriend. Apparently, a few years ago they considered getting married (something they apparently decided wasn’t important enough to share with me). Anyway, his girlfriend went out and bought some expensive dress from a salon that was going out of business. Obviously, since she’s still his girlfriend, they never went through with it. So now she has this dress that she thinks would be perfect for me. And if it’s not what I want, I can sell it and use the money to buy a dress of my choosing! (This sounds bad, but I hope I don’t like it or it doesn’t fit. I don’t want to wear her dress.)
***This just in: If I get the dress from the seamstress for $245, my grandma is willing to pay for it. Sweet!!! I’m going to try it on on Thursday afternoon…hope it looks awesome!
I went dress shopping the following day. Oh my god, fun! I tried on three dresses. I never thought about the dresses not fitting right before I started trying them on. Rather, I never imagined them being too small. Kinda dumb, huh? Anyway, on to the good stuff.
Dress #1: Modern Trousseau Macey
This is the dress that drove me to this particular bridal salon, Unbridaled. I emailed them ahead of time to make sure they definitely had the dress. The top was a bit big in the boobs, and the hip area was a bit tight. I love the flowy, romantic quality of this dress. It’s definitely more unusual, and I’m just not sure I can pull it off.
Dress #2: Venus 6604
I love this dress. It’s so simple but I love the little bling on the hip. And I love that it hugs my curves in all the right places. This is also the dress I think Mr. Plaid would like the most (you know, typical guy wants to see the hot bod…haha). Maybe it’s too plain though…
Dress #3: Adele Wechsler (I’m not sure which dress specifically…sorry)
I was immediately turned off by this dress and for stupid reasons. I think it was because I couldn’t get the dress zipped past my ample butt.
It really is a pretty dress, though. It also does a nice job of shaping my curves.
I somehow managed to choose two of the most expensive dresses and the cheapest dress in the store. Impressive, huh?
Did you have a dress in mind that you were dreaming of only to try it on and think, ick?
