Continuing My Search for the One

August 4th, 2010 @ 2:12 pm by Mrs. Plaid

(Here’s a hint…I found it here!)

Since I hadn’t found the one at my first stop, I decided I’d head to David’s Bridal on my next day off to try on some of their dresses. I’d read that it’d be better to go during the week when they’re less busy so you can get more individual attention. I set my appointment for 11:30 am and could barely sleep I was so excited to try more dresses on.

I arrived at the shop promptly at 11:30 am, and they had me fill out a little form with my basic information. I spent a little time describing what I was imagining for my wedding and wedding dress, and then I got to look through the aisles of dresses and choose which ones I liked best. Are you ready to see what I picked out?!?! I am!!!

This one I picked out because I liked the top. It was a very simple dress, with just a little pop of bling on the top. I like the silhouette of this dress, too. And for those of you observant bees, I believe this is Miss Cardigan’s dress.

This next one I chose because I liked how it looked on a mannequin in the store. It was actually really pretty, and I thought the train was really interesting on this dress. It actually came from the collar of the dress, kind of like a cape. It was cool!

The next two were both the same style: corset top, lace-up back, fluffy skirt. The first of the two had a light, flowy material on the bottom that I definitely liked. The second was a mixture of beading and lace, but I think it may be a little too busy for my tastes.

The last one is my favorite by far. It’s all lacy! I love the sweetheart neckline, and the back is awesome. If you look closely, you can see the back in the mirror behind me in the picture. I think if I go with this dress, I would want to use a colored sash instead of the beaded one I’ve got on in the picture, too.

Also, the veil I have on in some of the pictures is the style I want to wear on my wedding day. I have to say, I had a very pleasant experience at David’s Bridal. The lady I dealt with was super nice; she even took my pictures for me since I went solo-shopping this time.

So, do you want to know which one I chose? Do ya, do ya? Huh huh huh???

The last one, of course. I love love love it! It fit perfectly in the store, which I know is not a requirement, but it definitely helps in the trying on process. And I couldn’t stop smiling while it was on. Here’s the dress again for y’all:

I do, however, want to change one thing on the dress. As I said before, I’m not really very fond of the beaded, matchy-matchy sash. I think I would like to have a colored sash to match my bridesmaids’ dresses. They will all be in blue, so I will most likely do a sash in blue, too. Here’s what it might look like:

How long did it take you to find “the one”? Are you planning on adding a little pop of color to your dress?

I’m probably the only soon-to-be married woman in America who has never been inside a David’s Bridal store. I love the dress you’ve chosen, that’s what I would have went with too. I love the cap sleeves and lace.

I bought my dress online. It’s the only wedding dress I’ve ever tried on. I hated it at first (that’s what I get for not trying it on!), but have grown to love it with new accessories I got for it.

Such a pretty pick! I went through a few dresses before picking the one, but it didn’t take long at all…only 2 trips and may 8-10 dresses. As far as adding a pop of color…I am doing plum shoes!

Great dress! I only went shopping once, by myself, and got the 12th dress I put on, so not the typical dress shopping, but whatevs.

Well this was only the second place I went and I feel in love with this dress. I did have to bring my mom back to see it before I bought it though.

That dress is on my list to try at the DB store near me! I’m glad you love it, its always what I wanted in my dress. Keyhole backs are amazing!

I had to go to so many places, and actually had a horrible DB experience. So glad for you it went so smoothly, and you look beautiful! I’m with you on the sash - I think that will look great and make it ‘pop’!

Gorgeous! I love that dress so much, and it looks amazing on you! I have to admit, though, when I saw my dress as the first one up there I thought you picked it and I got really excited thinking we would be dress twins! :)

I like the one you chose the best!! Very pretty!

@October4040- I’ve never been inside David’s either, so you’re not alone:) I wanted to go to smaller, boutique-type stores… When I was in the one I got my dress from, the owner was there and he threw in a free veil and hemming:)
